It all begins…for the seventh time this coming Friday Night as Bellator 74 marks the official start of season number seven. The season begins with the opening round of the welterweight tournament, which features many top rated fighters. This particular tournament will feature a DREAM Welterweight Champion and the first ever Bellator Welterweight Champion.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight tournament opening round fight as Tim “Cheap Shot†Welch (9-3-0) competes against Michail “The Lonely Wolf†Tsarev (23-2-0). Tim Welch enters the tournament riding a three fight winning streak, with two victories coming in the Intense Cage Fighting promotion. Michail Tsarev enters the fight riding a ten fight winning streak and has yet to have any of his career fights go to a decision. Tim Welch is severely overmatched in this fight and Michail Tsarev will easily get the duke to advance to round two.
Another welterweight tournament opening round fight as Andrey “Spartan†Koreshkov (10-0-0) battles Jordan “Mata Ele†Smith (17-3-0). Andrey Koreshkov is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated both Tiawan Howard and Derrick Krantz. Jordan Smith is currently winless in Bellator competition, suffering a defeat to David Rickels at Bellator 63. Andrey Koreshkov is in for a way tougher fight than most people think against Jordan Smith, but he will still pull out the victory.
Up next is another welterweight tournament opening round fight as Nordine Taleb (8-1-0) faces Marius “The Whitemare†Zaromskis (18-6-0). Nordine Taleb is currently undefeated in Bellator competition and he holds a victory over UFC veteran Pete Sell. Marius Zaromski’s recently ended a three fight series with Waachiim Spiritwolf, defeating him twice in a row. Marius Zaromskis has a lot of tournament experience and that will help carry him to victory on Friday Night.
Headlining this card is a welterweight tournament battle as “Judo†Jim Wallhead (23-6-0) takes on Lyman “Cyborg†Good (12-2-0). Jim Wallhead returns to Bellator after a year absence, which was a loss to Rick Hawn back at Bellator 35. Lyman Good has rotated wins and losses in his last five Bellator fights and was the first ever Bellator Welterweight Champion. This should be one of the best fights of the season, but it will be Jim Wallhead ousting the former champion.
