The trio of MMA events concludes with an afternoon show from the United Kingdom on Saturday as the UFC presents UFC On Fuel TV V. The card is headlined by a heavyweight tilt that will propel the winner into the top ten of the heavyweight division. The preliminary card for this event is pretty stacked, with Kyle Kingsbury and Brad Tavares seeing action.
Kicking off the action is a featherweight division fight as Robert “Problems†Peralta (15-3-0) competes against Jason “Shotgun†Young (9-5-0). Robert Peralta is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Mike Lullo at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 25. Jason Young ended a two fight losing streak at UFC On Fuel TV II when he defeated Eric Wisely by unanimous decision. Robert Peralta is on quite the roll right now and it will continue on Saturday afternoon when he defeats Jason Young.
A pair of welterweights will see action next as DaMarques “Darkness†Johnson (15-11-0) does battle with Gunnar Nelson (9-0-1). DaMarques Johnson enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak, with those losses coming to Mike Swick and John Maguire. Gunnar Nelson will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he has spent time in the top rated BAMMA promotion. DaMarques Johnson is entering this fight as a late replacement and that is going to hurt him as Gunnar Nelson makes a successful UFC debut.
We move to the middleweight division as Brad Tavares (8-1-0) steps into the cage against Tom “Kong†Watson (15-4-0). Brad Tavares has won three of four in UFC competition, most notably defeating Phil Baroni at UFC 125. Tom Watson will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he does hold a victory over Murilo Rua, brother of Mauricio Rua. This should be an exciting stand up affair, but it will be Brad Tavares ruining the UFC debut on Tom Watson.
Up next is a featherweight division fight as Akira Corassani (9-3-0) gets octagon time against Andy Ogle (8-1-0). Akira Corassani will be making his UFC debut in this fight, with his last fight being a loss to Paul Reed at The Zone FC. Andy Ogle enters the fight riding a seven fight winning streak and he has not suffered a defeat in over two years. This is a big fight in the career of both competitors, but it will be Andy Ogle making the successful UFC debut.
Headlining this portion of the card is a light heavyweight division fight as Kyle “Kingsbu†Kingsbury (11-4-0) faces Jimi “Poster Boy†Manuwa (11-0-0). Kyle Kingsbury enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak and could very well be fighting for his job in this one. Jimi Manuwa is an undefeated fighter who has finished all but two opponents in the fights opening round. This will be a bad fight for Kyle Kingsbury as Jimi Manuwa dominates on route to a successful UFC debut.
