How do you cap off an MMA weekend that features three big events…with a big time heavyweight showdown with Stefan Struve and Stipe Miocic. Some of the best British fighters will be on the card as well, like Dan Hardy, Brad Pickett and John Hathaway. Also, a UFC Ultimate Fighter winner competes and a submission specialist looks for his biggest career victory.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division fight as Duane “Bang†Ludwig (21-13-0) competes against “Beautiful†Che Mills (14-5-0). Duane Ludwig enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak, which includes losses to Josh Neer and Dan Hardy. Che Mills will be looking to rebound from his first UFC loss, which came to Rory MacDonald at UFC 145 in April. This should be an exciting slugfest to kick off the card, but it will be Duane Ludwig ending his losing streak.
More welterweight action takes place next as John “The Hitman†Hathaway (16-1-0) does battle with John “The One†Maguire (18-3-0). John Hathaway has won seven of eight in UFC competition, most notably defeating Diego Sanchez at UFC 114. John Maguire is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated both Justin Edwards and DaMarques Johnson. The winner of this fight should move up to bigger fights in the division and that fighter moving up will be John Hathaway.
We drop to the lightweight division as Paul “Sassangle†Sass (13-0-0) is in action against “Handsome†Matt Wiman (14-6-0). Paul Sass is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated the trio of Mark Holst, Michael Johnson and Jacob Volkmann. Matt Wiman has won four of his last five in the UFC, but this fight will be his first MMA competition of 2012. This is easily the biggest test of Paul Sass’s career, but it will be a test that the submission specialist passes.
A pair of bantamweights will compete next as Yves “Tiger†Jabouin (18-7-0) battles Brad “One Punch†Pickett (21-6-0). Yves Jabouin enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak and he has not suffered a defeat in well over a year. Brad Pickett is looking to build on his first UFC victory, which came over Damacio Page at UFC On Fuel TV II. These are two of the better strikers in the bantamweight division, but it will be Brad Pickett ending his foe’s winning streak.
Up next is a welterweight division fight as Dan “The Outlaw†Hardy (24-10-0) takes on Amir Sadollah (6-3-0). Dan Hardy ended a career worst four fight losing streak at UFC 146 when he defeated Duane Ludwig via first round knockout. Amir Sadollah was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 7 and has won two of his last three in the UFC. Dan Hardy is a far superior fighter hen compared to Amir Sadollah and he will show why with a victory on Saturday.
Headlining this card is a heavyweight division fight as Stipe Miocic (9-0-0) faces Stefan “Skyscraper†Struve (24-5-0). Stipe Miocic has won three straight in UFC competition, having defeated Joey Beltran, Phillip De Fries and Shane Del Rosario. Stefan Struve enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, most notably defeating Lavar Johnson at UFC 146. The winner of this fight should advance to the top ten in the division and that fighter will be the undefeated Stipe Miocic.
