CES MMA: REAL PAIN CARD PREVIEW – PART TWO

By David Tees on 10/3/2012 10:49 PM

The long awaited professional MMA debut of former WWE Champion Batista is just around the corner and it will be airing on pay-per-view via Direct TV. The CES MMA promoters have also loaded the card with multiple UFC veterans, including a title challenger. The reason there is two parts to this preview is that it is unknown at this time which cards are part of the pay-per-view and the preliminary card.

We return to the event preview with a lightweight division fight as Mike “The Beast” Campbell (11-4-0) does battle with Gemiyale “Baby Hercules” Adkins (7-3-0). Mike Campbell enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and he holds a victory over UFC veteran Yves Edwards. Gemiyale Adkins has only won one of his last four, but one of those losses came to UFC veteran Kris McCray. Mike Campbell is a far superior fighter than Gemiyale Adkins and that will show with a victory on Saturday Night.

Featherweights will hit the cage next as Saul “The Spider” Almeida (12-2-0) is in action against Calvin “The Boston Finisher” Kattar (12-2-0). Saul Almeida has won five of his last six, with one of those victories coming in the Bellator Fighting Championships. Calvin Kattar enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, but he has not competed in nearly a year. These are two competitors with careers on the rise, but it will be Saul Almeida getting the big victory.

We move to the welterweight division for the next fight as Chad “The Grinder” Reiner (29-13-0) competes against Keith “Sonic Boom” Jeffrey (8-2-0). Chad Reiner enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and has competed twice in the Ultimate Fighting Championships. Keith Jeffrey is currently undefeated in CES MMA competition, with three straight victories in the promotion. The majority of this fight should be taking place on the ground, which is where Chad Reiner picks up the victory.

A pair of middleweights will compete next as John “Doomsday” Howard (17-7-0) sees cage time against Brett “Bed Time” Chism (16-11-0). John Howard has been undefeated since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Matt Brown at UFC On Versus IV. Brett Chism enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and has fought Strikeforce veteran Ovince St. Preux. John Howard will keep his post-UFC undefeated streak alive as he grinds out a victory over Brett Chism.

Another welterweight division fight is up next as Marc Stevens (14-7-0) battles Luis “Rockstar” Felix (7-6-0). Marc Stevens is a well-traveled MMA veteran who has spent time in both the Bellator Fighting Championships and Strikeforce. Luis Felix enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Joe Proctor. The winner of this fight could move onto a bigger promotion and that fighter is going to be Marc Stevens.

Up next is a middleweight division fight as David “The Crow” Loiseau (20-10-0) takes on Chris “Macimus” McNally (5-4-0). David Loiseau has won two of three since his last UFC release, which came after a loss to Mario Miranda UFC 115. Chris McNally enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and has competed against UFC veteran Eliot Marshall. David Loiseau is a former UFC Middleweight Title challenger and should have no issue defeating Chris McNally.

Headlining this card is a heavyweight division fight as Dave Bautista (0-0-0) debuts against Vince Lucero (22-22-0). Dave Bautista is making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but did win the WWE Championship during his time as a professional wrestler. Vince Lucero is a well-traveled MMA veteran who has fought such luminaries as Tim Sylvia, Lavar Johnson, Eddie Sanchez, Tim Hague and others. While Vince Lucero is a far more experienced fighter than his opponent, Dave Bautista has far better training partners and that will carry him to victory.
