There are a lot of fights to take in at Invicta FC III as a total of fourteen female MMA battles will be happening on Saturday Night. The card will be headlined by Jessica Penne and Naho Sugiyama, who are battling to become the first Invicta FC Atomweight Champion. Also, there will be several Strikeforce and Bellator Fighting Championships veterans stepping into the cage.
The preview continues with an atomweight division fight as Michelle “The Karate Hottie†Waterson (9-3-0) does battle with Lacey “The Lady†Shuckman (7-5-0). Michelle Waterson enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak and has competed once in Strikeforce. Lacey Shuckman is currently winless in Invicta FC competition, suffering a defeat to Ayaka Hamasaki at Invicta FC II. This will be the second fight that Michelle Waterson has had since giving birth to a baby many moons ago, but she will still achieve victory in this one.
A pair of bantamweights will duel it out next as Cat “Alpha†Zingano (6-0-0) competes against Raquel “Rocky†Pennington (3-1-0). Cat Zingano took this fight on late notice, because she was supposed to fight at the cancelled September Strikeforce event. Raquel Pennington is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, defeating Sarah Moras at Invicta FC II. Cat Zingano is expected to be the next big female bantamweight fighter and she will show why with a victory on Saturday Night.
Another bantamweight division fight will happen next as Tara LaRosa (21-2-0) is in action against Vanessa Porto (14-5-0). Tara LaRosa enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, most notably defeating Carina Damm at Shark Fights 14. Vanessa Porto has won four of her last five entering this fight and is currently winless in Invicta FC competition. Tara LaRosa is a legend in female MMA and will show why as she gets her fourth straight victory this weekend.
Flyweight fighters will be featured next as Barb “Little Warrior†Honchak (6-2-0) stands across the cage from Aisling “Ais The Bash†Daly (13-3-0). Barb Honchak enters the fight riding a five fight winning streak, most notably defeating Roxanne Modaferi at Blackeye Promotions V. Aisling Daly is coming off of a loss to Rosi Sexton, which was a semi-final fight in the Cage warriors Female Bantamweight Title Tournament. Barb Honchak is quickly building a name for herself in female MMA and she will add to that name when she knocks off Aisling Daly.
More bantamweight action will happen next as Kaitlin Young (7-6-0) takes on Leslie “The Peacemaker†Smith (3-2-0). This is a big rematch for Kaitlin Young, who fought Leslie Smith to a draw at the first ever Invicta FC event. Leslie Smith has not fought since that draw at Invicta FC I and has also competed against Kerry Vera, who is the wife of UFC veteran Brandon Vera. This is the first ever rematch in Invicta FC history and it will be Kaitlin Young picking up the historical victory.
Up next is a bantamweight division fight as Shayna “The Queen Of Spades†Baszler (14-7-0) faces Sarah “The Monster†D’Alelio (6-2-0). Shayna Baszler headlined Invicta FC II, suffering a unanimous decision loss to new Strikeforce signee Sara McMann. Sarah D’Alelio is currently undefeated in Invicta FC competition, defeating both Vanessa Mariscal and Vanessa Porto. These are two fighters who are both good at the ground game, but it will be Shayna Baszler ending her foe’s winning streak.
Headlining this card is an Invicta FC Atomweight Title decision fight as Jessica Penne (9-1-0) battles Naho “Sugi Rock†Sugiyama (8-0-0). Jessica Penne enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and even holds an MMA victory over professional wrestler Sumie Sakai. Naho Sugiyama is the current Jewels Atomweight Champion and will be making her North American MMA debut. The winner of this fight becomes the first ever champion in Invicta FC history and that fighter will be Naho Sugiyama.
