BELLATOR 76 SPIKE.COM PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/8/2012 10:30 PM

After a plethora of MMA events in the past few weekends, it will be nice to have just two big MMA events with Bellator on Friday and UFC 153 on Saturday. This event could be one of the most pivotal in the promotions history as Eddie Alvarez may be fighting for the last time under the Bellator banner. There is a five fight preliminary card taking place first on Spike.com and it will be featuring several up and coming MMA stars.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Nayeb Hezam (13-12-0) does battle with Magomedrasul Khasbulaev (16-5-0). Nayeb Hezam enters the fight winning four of his last five, with one of the victories happening in the Shooto promotion. Magomedrasul Khasbulaev enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, with three of the victories coming in the League S-70 promotion. These are two fighters looking to make a huge impact in North America and it will be Magomedrasul Khasbulaev making that impact.

Welterweight fighters will be featured next as AJ Matthews (6-1-0) competes against Dom “I Hate You So Much” O’Grady (14-5-0). AJ Matthews is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, which includes a victory over Strikeforce veteran Rudy Bears. Dom O’ Grady is also undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Nathan Gunn at Bellator 67 in May. The winner of this fight could be entered into a future welterweight tournament and that fighter will be Dom O’Grady.

We move up to the middleweight division for the next fight as Simon “The Mutant” Marini (9-5-0) faces Ali “The Monster” Mokdad (5-2-0). Simon Marini has only won one of his last four entering this fight, with that lone victory coming over Jason Gorny. Ali Mokdad enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak, plus he has not competed in nearly a year. Both fighters need to get the victory on Friday Night, but the only one who will be getting that victory is Simon Marini.

Up next is a welterweight division fight as Chad Laprise (5-0-0) stands across the cage from Ainsley Robinson (5-1-0). Chad Laprise is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Josh Taveirne at Bellator 64. Ainsley Robinson returned to active competition this past April after a four year absence, defeating Eric Attard at a Discipline MMA event. Ainsley Robinson may have pulled out a victory after a long break, but he will not be doing so again as Chad Laprise remains undefeated.

Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Jason Fischer (3-0-0) battles Kyle Prepolec (5-1-0). Jason Fischer is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, defeating Taylor Solomon at Bellator 64 in April. Kyle Prepolec enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which includes a victory back at Bellator 64. This will be the biggest test of the undefeated Jason Fischer’s career and it will be a test that the fighter passes.
