BELLATOR 77 MTV2 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/18/2012 10:49 AM

This weekend will be about Bellator 77, as the MMA spotlight will be shining on this event with no UFC or Strikeforce events happening. The promotion will be rewarding those fans who watch with the start of the season seven lightweight tournament. The tournament itself has plenty of great competitors and the field includes a UFC veteran in Rich Clementi.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight tournament opening round fight as Dave “The Fugitive” Jansen (16-2-0) does battle with Magomed saadulaev (14-1-0). Dave Jansen is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, most notably defeating Scott McAfee at Bellator 39. Magomed Saadulaev has spent the majority of his career in the Pro FC promotion, where he has achieved ten career victories. This fight is an excellent way to kick off the lightweight tournament, but it will be Dave Jansen advancing to the next round.

Another lightweight tournament opening round fight is next as Marcin Held (13-2-0) faces Murad “Strangler” Machaev (9-0-0). Marcin Held enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Philippe Nover. Murad Machaev is an undefeated fight who will be making his North American MMA debut in this encounter. Both fighters are equally skilled on the ground, but it will be Murad Machaev remaining undefeated in the end.

Up next is a lightweight tournament opening round fight as Rene “The Brazilian Bomber” Nazare (10-2-0) battles Ricardo Tirloni (14-2-0). Rene Nazare enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak and has not achieved a victory in over a year. Ricardo Tirloni did compete in the season six lightweight tournament, losing to Rick Hawn in the first round. These are two fighters in need of a big victory on Friday Night and it will be Ricardo Tirloni picking up that victory.

Headlining this card is a lightweight tournament opening round fight as Rich “No Love” Clementi (44-21-0) takes on Alexander “Tiger” Sarnavskiy (20-0-0). Rich Clementi enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, most notably defeating Derek Campos at Bellator 70. Alexander Sarnavskiy is an undefeated fighter who has kept his winning streak alive for nearly four years. This fight could essentially have been the tournament finals, but it will be Alexander Sarnavskiy keeping his streak alive.
