RESURRECTION FIGHTING ALLIANCE IV AXS TV MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 11/1/2012 10:36 AM

In between another big week of Bellator action and the debut of the World Series Of Fighting is a loaded Resurrection Fighting Alliance IV event. The Resurrection Fighting Alliance spared no expense with their debut card for AXS TV, with the headliner being Efrain Escudero versus Tyson Griffin. Also, a few more UFC veterans are in action, as well as a few relatives of other top UFC competitors are stepping in the cage.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division fight as Jimmy “Rabbit” Jones (4-1-0) does battle with Sergio “The Phenom” Pettis (5-0-0). Jimmy Jones has spent the majority of his career in the Superior Cage Combat promotion, where he defeated the nephew of Hulk Hogan, David Bollea. Sergio Pettis is currently undefeated in his professional MMA career and is the brother of UFC veteran Anthony Pettis. Sergio Pettis is considered to be the next big thing in mixed martial arts and he will show why with a victory on Friday Night.

We move to the lightweight division for the next fight as Derrick Burnsed (10-2-0) sees action against Dakota Cochrane (12-3-0). Derrick Burnsed has won five of his last six fights, with that lone loss coming to UFC veteran Francisco Trinaldo. Dakota Cochrane is coming off of the biggest victory of his career, which was a Resurrection Fighting Alliance III victory over Joe Stevenson. Dakota Cochrane is going to build off that victory over a UFC veteran by achieving a victory on his AXS TV debut.

Welterweights will step into the cage next as James “The James Krause” Krause (16-4-0) competes against Guilherme Trindade (8-0-0). James Krause is currently undefeated in RFA competition, having defeated both Amir Khillah and Mark Korzenowski. Guilherme Trindade is an undefeated fighter who has finished all but one opponent in the opening round. Guilherme Trindade is one big victory away from becoming a big star in MMA and he will pick up that victory over James Krause.

A pair of featherweights will compete next as Fredson Paixao (10-4-0) is in action against Lance “The Party” Palmer (4-0-0). Fredson Paixao will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Pablo Garza at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale. Lance Palmer is an undefeated fighter who has spent the majority of his career in the Fight For Wrestling promotion. While Lance Palmer is an undefeated fighter, Fredson Paixao has faced far better competition and will dominate on route to a victory.

Heavyweight fighters will be featured next as Marcio “Pe De Pano” Cruz (7-3-0) battles Joe “Yagerbombz” Yager (5-0-0). Marcio Cruz has only lost once since his UFC release, with that loss coming to UFC veteran Glover Teixeira. Joe Yager is an undefeated fighter who started off his career in the highly touted Rage In The Cage promotion. Being a late replacement is going to hurt Joe Yager in this fight as Marcio Cruz ends his opponent’s undefeated streak.

Up next is a welterweight division fight as “Filthy” Phil Dace (8-2-0) takes on Chidi “Chidi Bang Bang” Njokuani (8-3-0). Phil Dace enters the fight riding a five fight winning streak, which includes a pair of victories over WEC veteran Dave Terrell. Chidi Njokuani is currently undefeated in RFA competition, having defeated Bobby Cooper back at RFA III. This should be one of the more exciting battles of the evening, but it will be Chidi Njokuani picking up another RFA victory.

Headlining this card is a featherweight division fight as Efrain Escudero (18-5-0) faces Tyson Griffin (15-6-0). Efrain Escudero is competing for the first time since his second UFC release, which came after a UFC 145 defeat to Mac Danzig. Tyson Griffin will also be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came at a UFC 137 loss to Bart Palaszewski. The winner of this fight could be getting another opportunity in the UFC and that fighter is going to be Tyson Griffin.
