WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING I NBC SPORTS MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 11/2/2012 2:50 PM

New MMA promotions seemingly pop up all the time now, but very few do with the loaded card the World Series Of Fighting has offered in its debut. This card will be headlined by a former UFC Heavyweight Champion in Andrei Arlovski and a former UFC fighter in Anthony Johnson fights in the co-main event. Also, a kickboxing great will make his professional MMA debut and Miguel Torres looks to get back on the winning road.

Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division fight as Travis “The Showstopper” Bartlett (7-2-0) competes against Tyrone “King Of The Ring” Spong (0-0-0). Travis Bartlett has won five of his last six fights and has spent the majority of his career in Full Force Productions. Tyrone Spong will be making his MMA debut in this fight, but he is known as one of the world’s best kickboxers. Tyrone Spong is one of the best at kickboxing for a reason and he will show why with a successful MMA debut.

Welterweights step into the cage next as Gregor Gracie (7-2-0) does battle with Tyson “The Man Of” Steele (9-1-0). Gregor Gracie is coming off of a three fight run in the One FC promotion, where he won two of those fights. Tyson Steele enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak and has finished all but one opponent before the third round. This will be an entertaining grappling encounter to check out, but it will be Gregor Gracie pulling out the victory.

A pair of bantamweight fighters will duke it out next as Marlon Moraes (8-4-0) faces Miguel Torres (40-5-0). Marlon Moraes enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and has competed against WEC veteran Deividas Taurosevicius. Miguel Torres competes for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a UFC 145 defeat to Michael MacDonald. Miguel Torres was once considered to be the best bantamweight fighter in all of MMA and he will show why with a victory on Saturday Night.

Up next is a light heavyweight division fight as Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (13-4-0) battles DJ “Da Protégé” Linderman (13-3-0). Anthony Johnson has been undefeated since his UFC release, which includes a victory over UFC veterans Jake Rosholt and David Branch. DJ Linderman enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak and is the current Cage Warriors Heavyweight Champion. Anthony Johnson has looked unstoppable since moving to light heavyweight and he will continue that roll with another victory.

Headlining this card is a heavyweight division battle as Andrei “Pit Bull” Arlovski (17-9-0) takes on Devin Cole (20-9-0). Andrei Arlovski is coming off of a no contest against Tim Sylvia, it was the fourth fight between the two competitors. Devin Cole enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Shawn Jordan. Devin Cole has yet to be knocked out or submitted thus far in his MMA career and he will get a career making victory over the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.
