We are quickly nearing the half-way point of Bellator’s eighth season and we have had quite an entertaining time thus far. Bellator does not look to disappoint with this Friday Night’s event, which features the return of Joe Warren. Also, there are semi-final fights in both the featherweight tournament and the heavyweight tournament.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division fight as Darryl Cobb (5-5-0) competes against Brett “Fudoshin†Cooper (16-7-0). Darryl Cobb enters the fight riding a four fight losing streak and has not attained a victory in well over two years. Brett Cooper enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Joe Doerkson. Why this fight is airing on the main card is beyond me, but anything other than a Brett Cooper victory would be a major upset.
A heavyweight tournament semi-final fight is up next as Vinicius “Spartan†Queiroz (6-2-0) battles Alexander “Drago†Volkov (17-3-0). Vinicius Queiroz put himself in the tournament semi-finals when he defeated Mark Holota by submission at Bellator 75. Alexander Volkov punched his ticket to the tourney semi-finals when he defeated Brett Rogers by unanimous decision at Bellator 75. This fight should play out like the Brett Rogers fight, with Alexander Volkov using his range to secure a decision victory.
Up next is a featherweight tournament semi-final fight as Wagnney Fabiano (15-3-0) faces Rad Martinez (13-2-0). Wagnney Fabiano earned himself a position in the second round after defeating Akop Stepanyan at Bellator 76. Rad Martinez punched his ticket to the tournament semi-finals when he defeated Nazareno Malegarie at Bellator 76. This should be the most entertaining fight of the event and it will be Wagnney Fabiano advancing to the finals.
Headlining this card is a bantamweight division fight as Owen Evinger (7-3-0) takes on Joe Warren (7-3-0). Owen Evinger enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak, with those losses coming to Aaron Ely and Allen Gibson. Joe Warren returns to the cage after losing his Bellator Featherweight Title to pat Curran at Bellator 60. This fight will tell us whether or not Joe warren is still a contender in Bellator and he will show that he still is with a victory on Friday Night.
