BELLATOR 81 SPIKE.COM PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 11/12/2012 9:24 AM

The first half of the current Bellator season will be coming to a close this Friday Night as the promotion presents Bellator 81. The promotion gives us a good reason to tune in as the semi-finals of the lightweight tournament will be taking place. However, there is a six fight preliminary card that will be streaming first on Spike.com with a UFC veteran in action.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Andrew Calandrelli (5-3-0) does battle with Joe McGann (3-1-0). Andrew Calandrelli is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Matt Nice at Bellator 48. Joe McGann enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and is coming off of a run in the Reality Fighting promotion. This will be a good way to kick off the preliminary card, but it will be Andrew Calandrelli picking up the victory.

Middleweights will step into the cage next as Dan Cramer (8-3-0) is in action against Joseph “Sloppy Joe” Lamoureux (3-1-0). Dan Cramer has won seven of nine since his UFC release, which came after a defeat to Matthew Riddle at UFC 101. Joseph Lamoureux enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes two victories in the Cage Titans promotion. Dan Cramer has fought far better competition than his opponent and he will breeze through this one with another victory.

A pair of light heavyweights will fight next as Dan McGunane (3-0-0) steps into the cage against “Crazy” Mike Mucitelli (3-0-0). Dan McGuane is an undefeated fighter who has spent the majority of his career in the Cage Fighting Xtreme promotion. Mike Mucitelli is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Matt Van Buren at Bellator 73. Somebodies undefeated streak has to go in this one and it will be Mike Mucitelli keeping his undefeated streak alive in the end.

More middleweight action will occur next as Valter Roberto De Menezes (11-6-0) battles Brennan Ward (4-0-0). Valter Roberto De Menezes enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak and does hold a victory over Bellator veteran Brian Rogers. Brennan Ward is an undefeated fighter who has fought three of his four fights in the CES MMA promotion. Valter Roberto De Menezes may not be undefeated, but neither will Brennan Ward be when Friday Night comes to pass.

Up next is a lightweight division fight as Paul “One” Barrow (5-2-0) takes on Matt “The Mangler” Bessette (9-4-0). Paul Barrow is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Jason Carapelluci at Bellator 72. Matt Bessette is also undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Saul Almeida back at Bellator 73. These are two fighters who could move onto bigger fights in Bellator and it will be Matt Bessette picking up the key win.

Headlining this portion of the card is a bantamweight division fight as “Relentless” Robbie LeRoux (4-1-0) faces Ruben “Rukus” Rey (5-4-0).Robbie LeRoux enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with both victories coming in the CES MMA promotion. Ruben Rey enters the fight riding a three fight losing streak and has not achieved a victory in over a year. Ruben Rey has not been having a good run lately and that bad luck will continue as Robbie LeRoux gets the win.
