The end of the MMA weekend will all be about the welterweights of the UFC, but the lightweights of Bellator are getting some action this Friday Night. That’s because the Bellator Season Eight Lightweight Tournament Semi-Finals will be headlining this card. Also, Marlon Sandro returns to Bellator action and a pair of middleweight fighters will be featured on MTV2.
Kicking off the action is a middleweight division fight as Jonas Billstein (10-2-0) does battle with Perry “Filthy†Filkins (6-1-0). Jonas Billstein has only won one of his last three entering the fight, with that lone victory coming over Mike Seal. Perry Filkins enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak, with the majority of the victories coming in the Combat Zone promotion. Why this fight is part of the televised card is beyond me, but it will be Perry Filkins picking up the big victory.
Featherweights will step into the cage next as Dustin “The Beast†Neace (23-18-0) battles Marlon Sandro (22-4-0). Dustin Neace is competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Bryan Caraway at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale. Marlon Sandro competes for the first time since losing in the season seven featherweight tournament finals to Daniel Straus. Dustin Neace may have competed in the UFC, but Marlon Sandro is a far better fighter and he will show why again on Friday Night.
Up next is a lightweight tournament semi-final fight as Dave “The Fugitive†Jansen (17-2-0) faces Ricardo Tirloni (15-2-0). Dave Jansen earned his spot in the tournament semi-finals by defeating Magomed Saadulaev at Bellator 77. Ricardo Tirloni earned his spot in the tournament semi-finals when he defeated Rene Nazare at Bellator 77. This fight is easily the hardest to pick of both semi-final encounters, but it will be Dave Jansen moving onto the finals.
Headlining this card is a lightweight tournament semi-final fight as Rich “No Love†Clementi (45-21-0) takes on Marcin Held (14-2-0). Rich Clementi punched his ticket to the tournament semi-finals by defeating Alexander Sarnovsky at Bellator 77. Marcin Held advanced to the tournament semi-finals when he defeated Murad Machaev at Bellator 77. Both fighters will be looking to take the fight to the ground, but Rich Clementi is far better on the ground and that will gain him the win.
