This weekend will see the demise of Strikeforce, as the promotion will be shutting its doors after this Saturday Night’s event. The event will be headlined by Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Nate Marquardt and Tarec Saffiedine, a bout with major UFC implications. The card for this final event is so massive that two fights will not be airing on TV at all, one fight does include a UFC veteran.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division fight as Michael Bravo (7-3-0) takes on Estevan “El Terrible†Payan (13-3-0). Bravo enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak and has only had one of his professional fights go to a decision. Payan is currently undefeated in Strikeforce competition, having defeated Alonzo Martinez at Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Jardine. Payan is on quite the big roll at the moment and that roll will continue on Saturday Night as he defeats Michael Bravo.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Jorge “JG†Gurgel (14-8-0) battles Adriano Martins (23-6-0). Gurgel has only won one of his last four in Strikeforce, with that lone victory coming over Billy Vaughan. Martins enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak and once competed against UFC veteran Gleison Tibau. Martins will secure the biggest victory of his professional career this weekend as he defeats the UFC veteran.
