The UFC returns to the FX Network this coming Saturday Night with a main event that has UFC Middleweight Title implications. However, there is also a stacked six fight preliminary card that will be airing prior to the main card on Fuel TV. The six fights will feature a key fight in the featherweight division, plus a top Brazilian lightweight fighter is in action.
Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division fight as Ildemar “Marajo†Alcantara (17-5-0) competes against Wagner “Caldeirao†Prado (8-1-0-1NC). Alcantara will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but the fighter does so riding a seven fight winning streak. Prado is currently winless under the UFC banner, having suffered a defeat to Phil Davis back at UFC 153. Both fighters are well versed in the striking game, but it will be Alcantara picking up his first victory in the UFC.
Flyweights will step into the cage next as Yuri “Marajo†Alcantara (27-4-0) does battle with Pedro “The Rock†Nobre (14-1-2). Alcanatara will be looking to rebound from his first defeat in the UFC, having lost to Hacran Dias at UFC 147. Nobre will be making his official UFC debut in this fight, but he did have a successful run in the Bitetti Combat promotion. Alcantara suffered quite the setback at UFC 147, but he will rebound well this Saturday Night as he defeats Nobre.
A lightweight division fight is up next as Edson Barboza (10-1-0) steps up to fight Lucas “Mineiro†Martins (12-0-0). Barboza will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came against Jamie Varner at UFC 146. Martins will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but does so on the strength of a twelve fight undefeated streak. Barboza will soon become a major force in the lightweight division and he will show why with a victory over Martins.
We move to the featherweight division for the next fight as Nik “The Carny†Lentz (22-5-2-1NC) battles Diego “The Gun†Nunes (18-3-0). Lentz is currently undefeated as a featherweight in the UFC, having defeated Eiji Mitsuoka at UFC 150. Nunes has rotated wins and losses throughout his UFC run, with his last fight being a victory over Bart Palaszewski at UFC On FX V. Lentz looked like a beast in his first featherweight fight in the UFC and the “beast mode†will continue as he defeats Nunes.
Up next is a middleweight division fight as Andrew Craig (8-0-0) stands across the octagon from Ronny Markes (13-1-0). Craig is currently undefeated in UFC competition, with victories over both Kyle Noke and Rafael Natal. Markes is also undefeated thus far in his UFC run, with his victories coming over both Karlos Vemola and Aaron Simpson. The winner of this fight will be moving up to bigger fights within the middleweight division and that fighter will be Ronny Markes.
Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division fight as Godofredo “Pepey†Castro (8-1-0) faces Milton “Miltinho†Vieira (13-7-2). Castro is currently winless under the UFC banner, having dropped a fight to Rony Bezerra at UFC 147. Vieira started off his UFC run in auspicious fashion, fighting Felipe Arantas to a split draw back at UFC 147. These are two good fighters from the country of Brazil, but it will be Castro picking up his first victory in the UFC.
