UFC ON FUEL TV VII FACEBOOK PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 2/15/2013 5:31 PM

This coming weekend features title fights from Bellator and Maximum Fighting Championships, but it all closes out with a UFC Interim Bantamweight Title Fight on Fuel TV. The UFC fans from the United Kingdom will not only get a title fight, but plenty of other great fights as well. The preliminary card is pretty stacked as well, with two key fights taking place in the lightweight division.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division fight as “Useless” Ulysses Gomez (9-3-0) is in action against Phil “Billy” Harris (21-10-0-1NC). Gomez is currently winless in UFC competition, having dropped a fight to John Moraga back at UFC On Fox IV. Harris is also winless in his time in the UFC, having suffered a defeat to Darren Uyenoyama at UFC On FX V. This is a must win fight for both fighters if they wish to avoid the pink slip, but it will be Gomez getting his first UFC victory.

A bantamweight division fight is up next as Vaughan Lee (12-8-1) does battle against Motonobu Tezuka (19-5-4). Lee has only won one of three under the UFC banner, with that lone victory coming over the legendary Norifumi Yamamoto. Tezuka is currently winless in UFC competition, dropping a fight to Alex Caceres by split decision at UFC On Fuel TV VI. The majority of this fight should be contested on the ground, which is where Tezuka pulls out the big win.

We move to the middleweight division for the next fight as Stanislav Nedkov (12-0-0-1NC) competes against Tom “Kong” Watson (15-5-0). Nedkov will be making his middleweight debut in the UFC, after being undefeated as a light heavyweight throughout his career. Watson is currently winless in UFC competition, losing his UFC debut fight to Brad Tavares at UFC On Fuel TV V. Nedkov may have found a great home as a middleweight and he will show why with a successful middleweight division debut.

Featherweight division action will happen next as Josh “The Fluke” Grispi (14-4-0) battles Andy “The Little Axe” Ogle (8-2-0). Grispi is currently winless in UFC competition, losing fights to Dustin Poirier, George Roop and Rani Yahya. Ogle is also winless as a fighter in the UFC, with his lone promotional loss coming to Akira Corassani at UFC On Fuel TV V. The loser of the fight should find himself on the bad end of a pink slip and avoiding that pink slip will be Grispi.

Up next is a lightweight division fight as Danny “Last Call” Castillo (14-5-0) takes on Paul “Sassangle” Sass (13-1-0). Castillo has won four of six fights in the UFC, most notably defeating Joe Stevenson by decision at UFC ON Versus III. Sass will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Matt Wiman at UFC ON Fuel TV V. These are two fighters who have a bright future in the UFC, but it will be Sass getting back on track with a victory.

Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Terry Etim (15-4-0) faces Renee Forte (7-2-0). Etim will be competing for the first time since being on the wrong end of the UFC 2012 “Knockout Of The Year” to Edson Barboza at UFC 142. Fortee is currently winless under the UFC banner, as he lost via submission to Sergio Moraes at UFC 153. Etim will be fighting hard to erase the memory of his 2012 humiliation and he will start to do so by winning on Saturday afternoon.
