A trio of MMA events airing on TV will conclude on Saturday from the United Kingdom when the UFC Interim Bantamweight Title is on the line. Besides the big title fight, there are also a pair of interesting fights happening in the light heavyweight division. Also, a top contender to the featherweight title may be decided and a fighter gets a third opportunity in the UFC.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division fight as “Beautiful†Che Mills (15-5-0-1NC) is in action against Matt “Deep Waters†Riddle (7-3-0-1NC). Mills has won two of three in UFC competition, most notably defeating Duane Ludwig by TKO at UFC On Fuel TV V. Riddle has spent his entire professional MMA career in the UFC and enters the fight riding a two fight winning streak. Riddle is strongest on the ground and that is where Mills is weak, which is why Riddle gets the big victory.
Light heavyweight division action is taking place next as Ryan “Big Deal†Jimmo (17-1-0) competes against James Te Huna (15-5-0). Jimmo made his UFC debut at UFC 149, tying the record for the fastest knockout in UFC history with a seven second thrashing of Anthony Perosh. Te Huna enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Joey Beltran at UFC On Fuel TV IV. This should be one of the more entertaining slugfests of the event, but it will be Jimmo remaining undefeated in the UFC.
Another welterweight division fight is up next as Gunnar “Gunni†Nelson (10-0-0-1NC) does battle with Jorge “The Sandman†Santiago (25-10-0). Nelson is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated DaMarques Johnson at UFC On Fuel TV V. Santiago will be starting his third run in the UFC, having won just one of five in his previous appearances. Santiago has always fallen apart for whatever reason when fighting in the UFC, which is why Nelson will get the biggest win of his career.
More light heavyweight division action is up next as Cyrille “The Snake†Diabate (19-8-1) battles Jimi “Poster Boy†Manuwa (12-0-0). Diabate enters the fight on the strength of a two fight winning streak, last defeating Chad Griggs at UFC 154. Manuwa is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Kyle Kingsbury by TKO at UFC On Fuel TV V. This should be another entertaining striking battle to check out, but it will be Manuwa keeping his undefeated streak alive.
Up next is a featherweight division fight as Dustin “The Diamond†Poirier (13-2-0) takes on Cub Swanson (18-5-0). Poirier has won five of six in UFC competition, with his lone loss coming to Chan Sung Jung at UFC On Fuel TV III. Swanson enters the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with every fight ending within the second round. The winner of this fight could be in line for a featherweight title fight and that fighter getting the opportunity will be Swanson.
Headlining this card is a UFC Interim Bantamweight Title Fight as champion Renan Barao (29-1-0-1NC) defends against Michael “Mayday†McDonald (15-1-0). Barao will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Urijah Faber at UFC 149. McDonald earned his opportunity at the championship when he defeated Miguel Torres by knockout at UFC 145. Barao is a far more skilled fighter than his opponent, which is why he will be holding onto the championship.
