This coming weekend will begin with an event from Bellator and end with an event from the UFC, but the Legacy FC is putting on a show not to be overlooked. The promotion is pulling out the big guns for this event as their will be two championships on the line this Friday Night. Also, a UFC veteran is stepping into the cage and a pair of female fighters will be looking to steal the show.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division fight as Brandon Farran (7-6-0) competes against Alex Morono (4-1-0). Farran enters the fight riding a two fight losing streak, with one of those losses coming to the top rated Derrick Krantz. Morono has won three of four fights under the Legacy FC banner, with that lone loss coming at the hands of Jeff Rexroad. Farran has been looking unimpressive as of late and that streak will continue as Morono wins his fifth in Legacy FC.
A women’s bantamweight division fight is up next as Jennifer “Superstar†Scott (2-2-0-1NC) is in action against Lauren Taylor (4-0-0). Scott enters the fight on a two fight losing streak, with her last defeat coming to Bellator veteran Jessica Eye. Taylor is an undefeated fighter who has seen three of her victories coming in the Alaskan Fighting Championships. Taylor has yet to see a fight go past the second round and she will dominate in her Legacy FC debut and defeat Scott.
Another welterweight division fight is happening next as Todd “Maniac†Moore (14-5-0) does battle against Charles Ontiveros (3-0-0). Moore is coming off of a two fight run in Strikeforce, where he defeated Legacy FC veteran Mike Bronzoulis. Ontiveros is an undefeated fighter who has spent his entire professional MMA career in the Legacy FC promotion. Ontiveros may be undefeated heading into this fight, but that streak will end on Friday Night as Moore ends his streak.
Flyweights will be stepping into the cage next as Antonio Banuelos (20-9-0) takes on Rafael “Barata†De Freitas (5-0-0). Banuelos is currently winless under the Legacy FC banner and has only won two of four since getting released by the UFC. De Freitas is an undefeated fighter who has only had one of his five professional bouts got to a decision. This is a must win fight for Banuelos if he is to remain relevant as a fighter and it is a win that the fighter will get.
Up next is a Legacy FC Lightweight Title Fight as champion Jorge “Macaco†Patino (28-13-1-1NC) defends against Derrick “D-Rock†Krantz (14-6-0). Patino enters the fight riding a five fight winning streak, which does include a victory over UFC veteran Pete Spratt. Krantz earned the title shot after defeating both Brandon Farran and Charles Byrd in Legacy FC competition. This fight will be the potential show stealer of the evening, but it will be Patino keeping the strap around his waist.
Headlining this card is a Legacy FC Heavyweight Title Fight as champion Derrick “The Black Beast†Lewis (8-2-0-1NC) defends against Ricky “Ice Cold†Shivers (12-6-1). Lewis won the championship back at Legacy FC 13 when he upset the undefeated Jared Rosholt via knockout. Shivers will be making his Legacy FC debut in this fight, but he does hold a victory over UFC veteran Rob Yundt. Lewis is a heavyweight that will soon be on the UFC’s radar and he will show why as he keeps the title on Friday Night.
