RESURRECTION FIGHTING ALLIANCE VII AXS TV MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 3/20/2013 9:11 PM

In between another offering from the Bellator Fighting Championships and the second World Series Of Fighting event is an event from the Resurrection Fighting Alliance. The RFA is headlining the card with a battle of the middleweight fighters as Brandon Thatch battles Mike Rhodes. Also, the brothers of UFC veterans Anthony Pettis and Anthony Njokuani will be stepping into the cage.

Kicking off the action is a heavyweight division fight as Carl Postma (1-0-0) competes against Leandro Veal (1-0-0). Postma made his professional MMA debut in the summer of 2012, he defeated Anthony Alirez by first round knockout. Veal made his professional MMA debut at a June 2012 Ring Of Fire event, where he defeated Chad Wicks by knockout. Each fighter made impressive professional MMA debuts this past summer, but it will be Postma remaining undefeated in the end.

A pair of featherweights will be fighting next as Mirsad Bektic (5-0-0) does battle against Nick “Lightning” Macias (6-2-0). Bektic is an undefeated fighter who has achieved two of his five victories in the Titan Fighting Championships promotion. Macias has won five of his last six MMA bouts, with that lone loss coming at the hands of UFC veteran Tyler Toner. These are two featherweight’s with bright futures in MMA, but Macias has fought better competition and will get the win on Friday Night.

Flyweights will be competing next as Matt Manzanares (4-1-0) takes on Sergio “The Phenom” Pettis (6-0-0). Manzanares has split both of his RFA fights, defeating Kevin Gray and having suffered a defeat to Kevin Ely. Pettis is currently undefeated in his six fight MMA career and is the younger brother of UFC veteran Anthony Pettis. Pettis has truly looked like a top prospect in the flyweight division and he will show why with a victory over Manzanares.

Up next is a middleweight division fight as Jeremy Kimball (8-3-0) battles Chidi “Chidi Bang Bang” Njokuani (9-3-0). Kimball enters the fight on the strength of a four fight winning streak, which includes victories over UFC veteran Tom Speer and Drew McFedries. Njokuani also enters the fight riding a four fight winning streak and is the brother of UFC veteran Anthony Njokuani. Kimball may not have as big of a name in MMA as Njokuani does, but that will change this weekend when he gets the victory.

Headlining this card is a middleweight division fight as Mike Rhodes (4-0-0) faces Brandon “Rukus” Thatch (8-1-0). Rhodes is an undefeated fighter who accepted this fight on late notice, following an injury to Leandro Silva. Thatch enters the fight riding a seven fight winning streak, which includes a victory over the highly touted Chidi Njokuani. Being a late replacement is going to hurt Rhodes in this fight as Thatch picks up his eighth straight victory.
