Despite a loss of one of the two main events on Saturday’s UFC On Fuel TV IX event, the show will still go on. The same can be said about the events preliminary card, which will feature a massive seven fights for the fans to check out. The loaded card will feature a top up and coming lightweight in Michael Johnson and a top middleweight competes.
Kicking off the action is a welterweight division fight as Papy “Makambo†Abedi (8-2-0) is in action against Besam Yousef (6-1-0). Abedi is currently winless in UFC competition, dropping a pair of fights to Thiago Alves and James Head. Yousef is also winless in UFC competition, with his lone defeat coming to Simeon Thoresen at UFC On Fuel TV II. This is a must win situation for both fighters if they wish to remain in the UFC and it will be Yousef getting that job saving victory.
A pair of middleweights will battle next as Michael “Judo†Kuiper (12-1-0) does battle against “Filthy†Tom Lawlor (8-5-0-1NC). Kuiper has split both of his UFC appearances, defeating Jared Hamman and suffering a defeat to Rafael Natal. Lawlor has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC fights, with his last fight being a loss to Francis Carmont at UFC 154. Lawlor has all the tools to become a top middleweight in the UFC and he continues to drop the ball, which is whats going to happen on Saturday as Kuiper gets the win.
Another welterweight division fight is up next as Ben “Benny Blanco†Alloway (12-3-0) competes against Ryan LaFlare (7-0-0). Alloway is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Manuel Rodriguez at UFC On FX VI. LaFlare will be making his UFC debut in this fight, having spent his entire MMA career up to this point in the Ring Of Combat promotion. LaFlare may be an undefeated competitor, but that will not be true after Saturday as Alloway gets the duke.
Featherweights will be in action next as Marcus “The ‘Bama Beast†Brimage (6-1-0) stands across the octagon from “Notorious†Conor McGregor (12-2-0). Brimage is currently undefeated in UFC competition, most notably defeating Jim Hettes at UFC 152. McGregor will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he is a former Cage Warriors Featherweight Champion. McGregor has a lot of hype heading into his UFC debut, but it will do him no good as Brimage wins his fourth straight in the UFC.
More welterweight action is up next as Adlan “The Wolf†Amagov (11-2-1) battles Chris “The Kiss†Spang (5-1-0). Amagov will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did win three of four while in the Strikeforce promotion. Spang will also be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did win two of three in Strikeforce competition. These are two exciting fighters to come over from Strikeforce, but it will be Amagov making a successful UFC debut.
Up next is a middleweight division fight as Adam Cella (4-0-0) takes on Tor “The Hammer†Troeng (15-4-1). Cella will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did win two fights during a run in Shamrock Promotions MMA. Troeng will also be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he has competed against UFC veterans Lucio Linhares and Thales Leitas. Troeng has a ton more experience in the cage when compared to Cella, which is what will carry him to a victory.
Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Michael “The Menace†Johnson (12-7-0) faces Reza “Mad Dog†Madadi (12-3-0). Johnson has won three of his last four in the UFC, most notably defeating Tony Ferguson at UFC On Fox III. Madadi has split both of his UFC appearances, defeating Yoislandy Izquierdo and suffering a defeat to Cristiano Marcello. Johnson stumbled in his last fight against Myles Jury, but will rebound to defeat Madadi on Saturday Afternoon.
