After an entire season of the UFC Ultimate Fighter, the long rivalry between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen will conclude on Saturday Night. Besides that rivalry, a new rivalry will also come to an end on Saturday Night when Michael Bisping and Alan Belcher collide in the octagon. Also, a pair of top ranked heavyweights will battle it out and a New Jersey native returns to action.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division encounter as Pat “Bam Bam†Healy (29-16-0) competes against Jim Miller (22-4-0). Healy will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did close out his run in Strikeforce as the top contender to the Strikeforce Lightweight Title. Miller has rotated wins and losses in his last five UFC bouts, with his last fight being a victory over Joe Lauzon at UFC 155. The winner of this bout could be near contention for a title shot in the UFC, but it will be Miller spoiling the UFC debut of Healy.
Light heavyweights will be battling next as “Mr. Wonderful†Phil Davis (10-1-0-1NC) is in action against Vinny “Pezao†Magalhaes (10-5-0-1NC). Davis has won six of eight during his run in the UFC, last defeating Wagner Prado by submission at UFC 153. Magalhaes is currently undefeated in his second UFC run, having defeated Igor Pokrajac by submission at UFC 152. The majority of this fight should be contested on the octagon floor, but it will be Davis pulling out the win.
A pair of heavyweights will be duking it out next as Cheick Kongo (18-7-2) battles Roy “Big Country†Nelson (18-7-0). Kongo has won three of his last four under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Matt Mitrione at UFC 137. Nelson will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, having defeated both Dave Herman and Matt Mitrione. These are two of the better heavyweight fighters in the division right now, but it will be Nelson winning his third straight.
Up next is a middleweight division fight as Alan “The Talent†Belcher (18-7-0) faces Michael “The Count†Bisping (23-5-0). Belcher has won four of his last five bouts in the UFC, but his last fight was a loss to Yushin Okami at UFC 155. Bisping has only won one of his last three bouts, with both of those losses coming in fights that were deemed top contenders fights. These two fighters are competing to see who will remain relevant in the middleweight division and it will be Belcher getting that win.
Headlining this card is a UFC Light Heavyweight Title bout as champion Jon “Bones†Jones (17-1-0) defends against Chael Sonnen (27-12-1). Jones will be making the fifth defense of his championship, last defending against Vitor Belfort at UFC 152. Sonnen will be making his return to the light heavyweight division after a seven year run at middleweight, where he challenged current UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva twice for the gold. This bout will be dependent on Jones keeping the fight standing, which he will do in order to keep his title.
