With none of the big three (UFC, Bellator or WSOF) running any events this weekend, it is up the UK-based Cage Warriors promotion to give the fans a great show. The promotion is doing so with a top notch main event with UFC veteran Jesse Taylor in the top slot. The preliminary card is pretty awesome as well, with some of the UK’s best up and coming talent duking it out.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Jamie Rogers (8-6-0) battles Brad “The Crazy Kid†Wheeler (9-8-0). Rogers has only won two of his last seven fights, with one of those losses coming to Cathal Pendred at Cage Warriors 39. Wheeler has won two of his last three fights, with his last fight being a victory over Merv Mulholland at Cage Warriors 52. These are two fighters who are pretty similar in skill set, but it will be Wheeler getting his tenth career victory.
Up next is a welterweight division fight as Matt Inman (9-5-0) stands across the cage from Leon Kenge (6-2-0). Inman has only won one of his last five fights, with that lone victory coming over Kyle Redfearn at Total Combat 47. Kenge competed less than a month ago, defeating Jean Pheal Promeneur at a 100% Fight MMA event on April 13th. The short rest between fights is going to cost Kenge in this one as Inman breaks his recent bad streak to get back on track.
Headlining this portion of the card is a bantamweight division fight as “Evil†Kris Edwards (8-4-0) faces Shajidul “Shaj†Haque (2-0-0). Edwards has won two of his last three in Cage Warriors competition, but he has not fought in over six months. Haque is currently undefeated in his professional MMA career, last defeating Oliver Battell at Cage Warriors 52. Edwards has a huge experience advantage in this fight and that will come into play as he ends the undefeated streak of Haque.
