UFC ON FX VIII MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/17/2013 11:18 PM

The UFC is returning to Brazil for the second straight time on the FX Network with a card being headlined by Vitor Belfort and Luke Rockhold. Also, the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion Ronaldo Souza will be making his long awaited UFC debut. If that was not enough, two of the best lightweight fighters will duke it out and a pair of middleweights look to make an impact.

Kicking off the action is a middleweight division fight as Rafael “Sapo” Natal (15-4-1) does battle against Joao “The Brazilian Samurai” Zeferino (13-4-0). Natal has won three of his last four in UFC competition, most notably defeating Sean Spencer at UFC On Fox VI. Zeferino will be making his UFC debut in this fight and will do so on the strength of a seven fight winning streak. Natal is getting his biggest opportunity since signing with the UFC and he will take advantage of the opportunity by defeating Zeferino.

A pair of lightweights will collide next as Rafael Dos Anjos (18-6-0) stands across the cage from Evan Dunham (14-3-0). Dos Anjos will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Mark Bocek by decision at UFC 154. Dunham has won three of his last four in the UFC, with a notable victory coming over Gleison Tibau at UFC 156. This is a pretty big lightweight division fight and it will be Dos Anjos winning his fourth straight under the UFC banner.

Up next is a middleweight division fight as Chris Camozzi (19-5-0) takes on Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (17-3-0-1NC). Camozzi will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak and he has not suffered a defeat in almost two years. Souza will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he is also a former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. Souza already enters the promotion as a top contender in the middleweight division and he will show why with a victory on Saturday Night.

Headlining this card is a middleweight division fight as Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort (22-10-0) faces Luke Rockhold (10-1-0). Belfort has won three of his last four in the UFC, with that lone loss coming to current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. Rockhold will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he was the final Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. The winner of this fight could be next in line for a UFC Middleweight Title fight and it will be Rockhold getting that shot.
