LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 20 AXS TV MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 5/28/2013 5:12 PM

When the big three MMA promotions are not running an event this weekend, you can bet that the Legacy Fighting Championships will be stacking a card to get the MMA fans attention. The promotion did an excellent job with this loaded card, which will feature three UFC veterans in the top three fights. If the UFC veterans were not enough, MTV Caged reality show star Matt Schnell will be competing as well.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division fight as Elias Garcia (3-0-0) competes against Matt “Danger” Schnell (2-0-0). Garcia is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and has only seen one of his three fights go to a decision. Schnell is best known for his time on the MTV reality show “Caged” and has spent his entire short career in the Legacy FC promotion. These are two of the better prospects to keep an eye on right now and it will be Schnell remaining undefeated in the end.

A pair of middleweights are set for action next as “Hybrid” Hayward Charles (9-4-0) does battle with Rodrigo Pinheiro (3-1-0). Charles will enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak, with three of those victories coming in the Xtreme Knockout promotion. Pinheiro will be returning to the cage for the first time in nearly three years, with his last fight being a loss to UFC veteran Andrew Craig. The long layoff will be hurting Pinheiro in this one and it will be Charles winning his seventh straight fight.

Another flyweight division fight is up next as Antonio Banuelos (20-9-1) is in action against Alptekin “Alp” Ozkilic (7-1-0). Banuelos has only won two of five since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Miguel Torres at UFC 126. Ozkilic will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and his lone professional MMA defeat came to UFC veteran Chico Camus. Banuelos has been a less than stellar fighter since his UFC release and Ozkilic will capitalize with his biggest career win on Friday Night.

Featherweight action will be taking place next as Chris “The Enigma” Pecero (8-5-0) faces Adam Schindler (10-5-0). Pecero has won four of his last five fights, with a notable victory coming over Bellator veteran Douglas Frey. Schindler has only won one of his last four fights, with two of those losses coming in the Bellator Fighting Championships. Schindler has not been looking to good as of late and Pecero has, which is why Pecero will get the win.

Up next is a bantamweight division fight as Damacio “The Angel Of Death” Page (15-8-0) battles Patrick “The Juggernaut” Ybarra (5-0-0). Page will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Alex Caceres at UFC On Fuel TV IV. Ybarra is currently undefeated in his professional MMA career and all of his victories have come in the opening round. Page has not gotten a victory in almost four years and it may become five after Ybarra gets the biggest victory of his career.

Headlining this card is a lightweight division fight as Carlos Diego Ferreira (6-0-0) takes on Carlo “Neo” Prater (31-13-1). Ferreira is an undefeated competitor who has seen three of his six victories come in the Ultimate Warriors Fighting promotion. Prater has only won one of two since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Marcus LeVesseur at UFC ON FX V. Praters strength on the ground is Ferreira’s biggest strength as well, Ferreira will do enough to remain undefeated in the end.
