It what seems like a weekly occurrence lately, the Cage Warriors promotion is returning to action this coming Saturday. The promotion will be headlining its card (which streams on MMAjunkie.com) with a pair of championship bouts. There are also two fights happening on the un-aired portion of the preliminary card, with features four fighters looking to move up in the ranks.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Gavin Kelly (2-0-0) takes on Ben “Flubber†Rees (0-0-0). Kelly is returning to action after a yearlong layoff, with his last fight being a victory over Dee Murray at Cage Contender 13. Rees will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did win four of eight as an amateur. Kelly’s long layoff is going to hurt him in this fight as it will be Rees making a successful debut as a professional MMA fighter.
Headlining this portion of the card is a middleweight division fight as Konrad Iwanowski (0-0-0) faces Sam Francis (0-1-0). Iwanowski will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did win four of six as an amateur. Francis is returning to action after a two year layoff, with his lone fight being a loss to Ben Hodge at Lockdown Fighting Championships 11. Despite having a one fight experience edge as a pro fighter, Francis’s long layoff is to his detriment as Iwanowski turns pro with a victory.
