The Cage Warriors promotion is returning to action this weekend with a card that was supposed to be headlined by a welterweight title fight. That has all changed as of Friday Morning because challenger Che Mills missed weight and now the fight will be a non-title affair. Do not let that detour you fans from checking out a great show, which will also feature the crowning of the first ever Cage Warriors Flyweight Champion.
Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division fight as Steve “Taz†McCombe (17-19-1) competes against Jean “The Show†N’Doye (6-1-0). McCombe has rotated wins and losses in his last eight fights, his last fight was a victory over Joe Orrey at Cage Warriors 54. N’Doye recently rebounded from his first career defeat when he defeated Rich Edgeworth at Cage Warriors 53. This was a fight originally set for the preliminary card until injuries forced a card change, but it will be N’Doye defeating his more experienced opponent.
Lightweight action is taking place next as Marc “Suplex†Allen (7-2-0) does battle with Paul “Redser†Redmond (7-3-0). Allen with enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with includes a pair of victories in the BAMMA promotion. Redmond has won all four of his previous fights under the Cage Warriors banner, with none of those fights going past the second round. The winner of this fight may be in line for a lightweight title fight and it will be Redmond getting that victory.
A pair of middleweights will duke it out next as Chris “The Killing†Fields (10-5-0) takes on Norman Paraisy (11-3-1-1NC). Field will be competing for the first time since losing the Cage Warriors Middleweight Title to Jesse Taylor at Cage Warriors 51. Paraisy is currently undefeated since his Bellator release, which came after a loss to Brett Cooper at Bellator 89. This fight can also be considered a top contenders bout, but it will be Fields getting back on track either way.
Up next is a Cage Warriors Flyweight Title decision fight as Neil “2 Tap†Seery (12-9-0) faces Mikael Silander (8-1-0). Seery earned his spot in this championship bout after winning three straight in the Cage Warriors promotion. Silander will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight, but has yet to have any of his professional MMA fights go to a decision. Seery seems like an unlikely fighter to put in this fight and Silander will show why as he dominates his foe to earn the title.
Headlining this card is a non-title fight as Cage Warriors Welterweight Champion Cathal “The Punisher†Pendred (12-2-1) battles "Beautiful" Che Mills (15-5-0-2NC). Pendred will enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak, which includes a victory over WEC veteran David Bielkheden. Mills will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a no contest to Matthew Riddle at UFC On Fuel TV VII. Mills missing weight is a huge slap in the face to Pendred, who will be making the UFC veteran pay as he gets the victory.
