The Ultimate Fighting Championships returns to pay-per-view on Saturday Night with an injury-ridden card. Two former champions will collide in the main event as Rashad Evans (former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion) faces Dan Henderson (former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion). The preliminary card airing on FX will feature Jake Shields return to welterweight and a key lightweight division match up.
Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division fight as “Stunning†Roland Delorme (8-1-0-1NC) competes against Edwin “El Feroz†Figueroa (9-2-0). Delorme is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Josh Ferguson and Nick Denis. Figueroa has won two of four under the UFC banner, with a notable victory over Alex Caceres at UFC 143. The winner of this fight could move up to bigger fights in the division and it will be Delorme getting the victory.
A pair of welterweights are set for action next as Sean “The Punisher†Pierson (13-6-0) battles Kenny Robertson (12-2-0). Pierson will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, last defeating Lance Benoist via decision UFC 152. Pierson will be looking to build on the momentum of his first UFC victory, which came over Brock Jardine at UFC 157. The majority of this fight should be contested on the ground, but it will be Pierson winning his third straight fight.
Up next is a lightweight division fight as James “The James Krause†Krause (19-4-0) takes on Sam “Hands Of Stone†Stout (19-8-1). Krause will be making his UFC debut on a seven fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Joe Jordan. Stout has rotated wins and losses in his last fight UFC bouts, with his last fight being a victory over Caros Fodor at UFC 157. Krause has the wrestling ability to neutralize the striking of Stout, which is how he will get the win on Saturday Night.
Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division fight as Jake Shields (27-6-1-1NC) faces Tyron “The Chosen One†Woodley (11-1-0). Shields will return to the welterweight division for the first time in nearly two years, he went 1-0-1 as a middleweight in the UFC. Woodley is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Jay Hieron via first round TKO at UFC 156. Woodley looked fantastic in his UFC debut against Hieron and he will continue to look good as he defeats Shields.
