LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 21 AXS TV MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 7/17/2013 6:00 PM

The Legacy Fighting Championships returns this weekend with a card featuring a lot of title implications for the promotion. The title implications will occur in both the middleweight and bantamweight divisions, which will both have brand new champions on Friday Night. Also, UFC veteran Leonard Garcia will make his promotional debut and Holly Holm is making her Legacy FC debut as well.

Kicking off the action is a women’s bantamweight division fight as “The Preachers Daughter” Holly Holm (3-0-0) is in action against Allanna “Hands Of Stone” Jones (2-2-0). Holm is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fight, last defeating Katie Merrill by TKO at Bellator 91. Jones has rotated wins and losses throughout her MMA career, last fighting the controversial Fallon Fox at Championship Fighting Alliance 11. Holm has a great future ahead of her as an MMA fighter and she will show why as she decimates Jones in this one.

A pair of featherweights are up next as Leonard “Bad Boy” Garcia (15-11-0) competes against Reynaldo “The Warrior” Trujillo (14-10-0). Garcia will be competing for the first time since getting released by the UFC, which came after a loss to Cody McKenzie at UFC 159. Trujillo will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with both of those victories coming in the opening round. This bout has “fight of the night” written all over it, but it will be Garcia getting back on track with a victory.

Middleweights are going to enter the cage next as Jonathan “The Hulk” Harris (6-3-0) dukes it out with Matt Rogers (8-5-0). Harris will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and this will be his first fight in nearly a year. Rogers has only won one of his last five fights, plus he has only competed once in the past nine plus years. This is a must win fight if either fighter is to remain relevant, but it will be Harris picking up that much needed win.

We move to the lightweight division for the next fight as Gerardo Abadie (5-1-0) does battle with Justin “Wolverine” Reiswerg (5-2-0). Abadie is coming off of a two fight run in the Immortal Kombat Fighting promotion, where he got a victory in under ten seconds. Reiswerg is returning to the cage after being away for a full year, but he has competed against UFC veteran Pat Audinwood. These are two good prospects worth keeping an eye on, but it will be Abadie picking up the victory here.

Another featherweight bout is up next as Darrion Caldwell (2-0-0) stands across the cage from Gerzan Chaw (3-2-0). Caldwell is best known for his NCAA wrestling prowess, but he is also undefeated as a professional MMA fighter. Chaw is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition, defeating both Colin Wright and David Armas respectively. Caldwell could become a big star if he is brought along correctly, which he is and he will remain undefeated in this one.

Up next is a fight to crown the Legacy FC Middleweight Champion as William “Bubba” Bush (5-2-0) battles Larry “Tae Kwon” Crowe (6-2-0). Bush has won three of his last four fights in Legacy FC competition, plus has fought UFC veteran Andrew Craig. Crowe has also won three of four in his latest Legacy FC run, last defeating Matt Rogers at Legacy FC 18. The winner of this fight will be champion and possibly get a shot in the UFC, it will be Crowe becoming the champion in this one.

Headlining this card is a bout to crown a new Legacy FC Bantamweight Champion as Matt “The Crowbar” Hobar (7-1-0) faces Angel “The Chosen One” Huerta (6-1-0). Hobar has won two of three in Legacy FC competition, which includes a two fight series with Steven Peterson. Huerta has won five of six in Legacy FC competition, last defeating Saul Elizondo by knockout at Legacy FC 15. This is a big time fight worth checking out and it will be Hobar going home with the belt around his waist.
