Another stacked card is heading to Fox this weekend with a UFC Flyweight Title fight taking the spot in the main event. There is also a huge bout between Jake Ellenberger and Rory MacDonald to possibly determine a top contender in the welterweight division. Also, Robbie Lawler looks to remain undefeated in his second UFC run and a pair of women will compete in the first female bout on Fox.
Kicking off the action is a women’s bantamweight division fight as Jessica “Bate Estaca†Andrade (9-2-0) competes against Liz “Girl-Rilla†Carmouche (8-3-0). Andrade will be making her UFC debut in this fight, but she will do so on the strength of a two fight winning streak. Carmouche made UFC history when she competed against current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey in the first ever female bout in UFC history. These are two of the better ground fighters in the women’s bantamweight division right now, but it will be Carmouche getting her first UFC win.
Welterweights will enter the cage next as “Ruthless†Robbie Lawler (20-9-0-1NC) battles “Viscous†Bobby Voelker (24-9-0). Lawler is currently undefeated in his second UFC run, having defeated Josh Koscheck by knockout at UFC 157. Voelker is currently winless in UFC competition, having dropped a decision to Patrick Cote at UFC 158. This should be one of the best striker’s battles on the entire card, but it will be Lawler remaining undefeated in his second UFC run.
Up next is a welterweight division fight as Jake “The Juggernaut†Ellenberger (29-6-0) takes on Rory “Ares†MacDonald (14-1-0). Ellenberger has won eight of his last nine fights in the UFC, most notably defeating Nate Marqaurdt at UFC 158. MacDonald is entering the fight riding a four fight winning streak, last defeating former UFC Lightweight and Welterweight Champion BJ Penn at UFC On Fox V. The winner of this fight could be in line for a UFC Welterweight Title shot and it will be MacDonald getting that shot.
Headlining this card is a UFC Flyweight Title fight as champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse†Johnson (17-2-1) defends against John Moraga (13-1-0). Johnson has successfully defended the championship once already, having defeated John Dodson at UFC On Fox VI. Moraga is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated both Ulysses Gomez and Chris Cariaso. This is an interesting bout to headline the card since many UFC fans are not well aware of Moraga, but it will be Johnson holding onto the belt either way.
