One of the biggest events of the UFC calendar for 2013 is here this Saturday Night as the promotion makes their debut on Fox Sports 1. The company put a heck of a card together, featuring Chael Sonnen, Mauricio Rua, Alistair Overeem and Urijah Faber. The card is so loaded, that there will be a trio of fights on Facebook, including a fight to watch in the featherweight division.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Ramsey Nijem (7-3-0) is in action against James Vick (4-0-0). Nijem has won three of five under the UFC banner, but he is coming off of a loss to Myles Jury at UFC On Fox VII. Vick will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did have a successful two fight run in the Xtreme Knockout promotion. Nijem has a far bigger experience edge than his opponent as it pertains to big promotion fights and that will carry him to his fourth UFC victory.
Up next is a light heavyweight division fight as Cody “Donnybrook†Donovan (8-2-0) battles Ovince St. Preux (13-5-0). Donovan is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Nick Penner by knockout at UFC On FX VI. St. Preux is also undefeated in UFC competition, having earned a victory over Gian Villante by decision at UFC 159. This will be a pretty interesting fight worth checking out, but it will be St. Preux remaining undefeated in UFC competition.
Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division fight as Manny “The Anvil†Gamburyan (12-7-0) faces Cole “Magrinho†Miller (19-7-0). Gamburyan has only won one of three in his most recent UFC run, with that lone victory coming over Michihiro Omigawa at UFC On Fox IV. Miller has only won one of his last three bouts in the UFC, with his last fight being a win over Bart Palaszewski at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale. This is a key fight that will keep the winner off the unemployment line and it will be Miller keeping his job in the UFC.
