The always exciting Legacy Fighting Championships returns to action this Friday Night with a card with two UFC veterans in the main event. Besides the main event bout, UFC veteran Joseph Sandoval will also be competing on this AXS TV televised card. Also, there will be plenty of up and coming MMA fighters looking to make their impact on the national stage.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Justin “Wolverine†Reiswerg (5-2-0) does battle against Anselmo Luna (7-4-0). Reiswerg has won four of five under the Legacy FC banner, most notably defeating Rey Trujillo at Legacy FC V. Luna will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and the fighter has not won a fight in over two years. Reiswerg is a fighter on the rise in Legacy FC competition and he will show why as he defeats Luna in this one.
A pair of flyweights will battle it out next as Jonathan Lopez (4-1-0) competes against Joseph Sandoval (6-4-0). Lopez will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak, including a two fight run in the C3 Fights promotion. Sandoval is currently winless since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Nick Denis at UFC On FX I. Sandoval has not been very good since getting his UFC release and that will work in Lopez’s favor as he picks up the biggest win of his career.
Welterweights will step into the cage next as Brandon Farran (7-7-0) is in action against Lucas Pimenta (8-2-0). Farran will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak, with two of those losses coming in Legacy FC competition. Pimenta is currently winless in Legacy FC competition, but he does hold a victory over UFC veteran Shamar Bailey. Pimenta is a far better fighter than Farran is at this stage of their careers and Pimenta will get the win in this one.
We move to the featherweight division for the next bout as George Pecurariu (5-1-0) battles Aaron Cerda (6-3-0). Pecurariu is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition, having defeated Steven Peterson at Legacy FC 19. Cerda will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak and has previously competed against Legacy FC veteran Matt Hobar. Pecurariu is a rising star in the Legacy FC promotion and his star will continue to rise as he defeats Cerda in this one.
Up next is a welterweight division fight as Artenas “The Machine Gun†Young (9-5-0) faces Eric “Big Head†DaVila (20-12-0). Young has won three of five under the Legacy FC banner, including a win over current Legacy FC Middleweight Champion William Bush. DaVila will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, with those losses coming to UFC veterans Gerald Harris and Dave Menne. Young could be a victory or two away from a title shot and he will get a step closer as he gets the win here.
Headlining this card is a light heavyweight division fight as James “The Hammer†McSweeney (11-10-0) takes on Paul “The Headhunter†Buentello (32-15-0). McSweeney has won five of his last six fights, last defeating Strikeforce veteran Dion Staring at a Championship Fighting Alliance event. Buentello will be making his light heavyweight debut in this fight after spending his entire career as a heavyweight. This is an interesting battle of UFC veterans that should be nothing short of a slugfest, but it will be Buentello making a successful debut at light heavyweight.
