The Ultimate Fighting Championships will be bringing their sophomore effort to Fox Sports 1 on Wednesday Night, headlined by a rematch between Martin Kampmann and Carlos Condit. The co-main event is a noteworthy fight as well, with Donald Cerrone and Rafael Dos Anjos looking to move up the ranks. Also, a pair of UFC Ultimate Fighter Champions will collide and another UFC Ultimate Fighter Champion is in action.
Kicking off the action is a middleweight division fight as Bubba “The Menace†McDaniels (21-6-0) competes against Brad Tavares (10-1-0). McDaniels is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Gilbert Smith at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale. Tavares will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with a notable victory coming over Tom Watson at UFC On Fuel TV V. This fight will determine if Tavares is for real in the division and he will get the win to prove he is for real.
A pair of bantamweights are up next as Takeya Mizugaki (17-7-2) does battle with Erik “El Goyito†Perez (13-4-0). Mizugaki will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, last defeating Bryan Caraway at UFC On Fuel TV VIII. Perez is currently undefeated in UFC competition and the fighter has yet to have a UFC fight go past the first round. Perez could be very close to a title shot with a victory and he will be getting closer to that shot as he gets the win.
Welterweight competitors are up next as Court “The Crusher†McGee (15-3-0) is in action against Robert Whittaker (11-2-0). McGee is currently undefeated as a welterweight in the UFC, having defeated Josh Neer by decision at UFC 157. Whittaker was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes and will enter the fight on a two fight winning streak. This is an interesting battle of the TUF Champions to check out, but it will be McGee walking away with the win.
More welterweight action is up next as Kevin Gastelum (6-0-0) stands across the cage from Brian Melancon (7-2-0). Gastelum was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 17, having defeated Uriah Hall in the shows finals. Melancon is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Seth Baczysnki at UFC 162. Despite being a late replacement in the fight, it will be Melancon ending the undefeated streak of Gastelum.
Up next is a lightweight division fight as Donald “Cowboy†Cerrone (20-5-0-1NC) battles Rafael Dos Anjos (19-6-0). Cerrone has won three of his last four fights, with that lone loss coming to upcoming title challenger Anthony Pettis. Dos Anjos will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak, which includes a notable win over Evan Dunham at UFC On FX VIII. The winner of this fight could get into title contention within the division and it will be Cerrone getting that big win.
Headlining this card is a welterweight division fight as “The Natural Born Killer†Carlos Condit (28-7-0) faces Martin “The Hitman†Kampmann (20-6-0). Condit will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and is a former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion. Kampmann has won three of his last four fights and did defeat Condit in their first fight at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 18. This is a must win fight if either fighter is to remain near the top of the division and it will be the more evolved Condit evening the series up.
