TITAN FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 26 AXS TV MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 8/28/2013 1:44 PM

While there are a pair of UFC events this week, the Titan Fighting Championships have found a way to squeeze an event in between the UFC. The promotion has given MMA fans a great main event to check out as Bellator veteran Dan Hornbuckle battles UFC veteran Dennis Hallman. If that were not enough for MMA fans to check out, there are six other fights featuring top up and coming MMA talent.

Kicking off the action is a middleweight division fight as Henry Chianuma (6-2-0) competes against Derek Holly (1-1-0). Chianuma will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and has previously competed against Bellator veteran Kelvin Tiller. Holly will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, dropping a fight to Dallas Browning at a Cageside Promotions event. This fight seems like a mismatch from the get go and it will be the more experience Chianuma getting the win.

Featherweights will enter the cage next as Zach Nolan (0-0-0) will be in action against Jeremy Smith (1-0-0). Nolan will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did go undefeated while competing as an amateur. Smith is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, having defeated Robert Basney at a Cageside Promotions event. These are two fighters who have a bright future in the MMA game, but it will be Smith remaining undefeated in the end.

We move to the lightweight division for the next fight as Charlie Dubray (11-8-0) does battle against Jesse Zeugin (9-4-0). Dubray has only won one of his last five fights, with that lone win coming over Matt Williams at Disorderly Conduct MMA 19. Zeugin is currently winless in TFC competition, having dropped fights to Joe Ellenberger and Joe Wilk respectively. This is a must win fight if either competitor is to ever move up the MMA ladder and it will be Zeugin getting his first TFC victory.

A pair of welterweights will battle next as Joshua Tully (0-0-0) will be competing against Jason Witt (2-0-0). Tully will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he did go undefeated while competing as an amateur. Witt is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, with none of his fights going past the opening round. Witt is the wrong guy for Tully to be making his pro MMA debut against and it will be Witt remaining undefeated.

More lightweight division action is up next as Alex “The Spartan” White (6-0-0) battles Roy “The Enigma” Babcock (7-1-0). White is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, with only one career fight going to the judge’s scorecard. Babcock is a longtime veteran of the King Of The Cage promotion and he has defeated Strikeforce veteran Nick Nolte. This is a much underappreciated fight on this card, either way it will be White remaining undefeated when it is said and done.

Up next is a featherweight division fight as Dustin Phillips (13-7-0) takes on Kevin “The Kremlin” Croom (9-4-0). Phillips has rotated wins and losses in his last six MMA fights, with his last fight being a loss to Mike Santiago at an MMA Xplosion event. Croom will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak, with two of those wins coming in Tommy Tran Promotions. These are two well-traveled MMA veterans and it will be Croom picking up the win in the co-main event.

Headlining this card is a welterweight division fight as Dennis “Superman” Hallman (51-14-2-1NC) faces Dan “The Handler” Hornbuckle (24-5-0). Hallman will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after he failed to make weight for a UFC ON Fox V bout against Thiago Tavares. Hornbuckle is a Bellator veteran who enters the fight on a two fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Pete Spratt. Hornbuckle is a fighter who is always close to a shot in the UFC and never seems to make that final step, but he will get even closer by defeating Hallman.
