The week long marathon of UFC events is coming to a close with the highly anticipated UFC Ultimate Fight Night 28 card. The card will be headlined by a fight between Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader, with a potential title shot on the line. Also, two of the UFC’s best middleweights collide and Joseph Benavidez looks to get a step closer to another title shot.
Kicking off the action is a flyweight division fight as Ali “Puncher†Bagautinov (10-2-0) competes against Marcos “Vina†Vinicius (20-4-1). Bagautinov will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he will be doing so on the strength of an eight fight winning streak. Vinicius has split both of his past UFC appearances, defeating Wagner Campos and suffering a defeat to Johnny Bedford. Bagautinov has been an impressive fighter leading into his UFC debut and he will keep his winning streak alive as he defeats Vinicius in this one.
A pair of middleweights are up next as Rafael “Sapo†Natal (16-4-1) does battle against Tor “The Hammer†Troeng (16-4-1). Natal will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, most notably defeating Sean Spencer at UFC On Fox VI. Troeng is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Adam Cella at UFC On Fuel TV IX. Natal is known for gassing out rather early in fights, which is where Troeng will get the advantage and then the victory.
Lightweights will step into the octagon next as Piotr “Pletwal†Hallman (13-1-0) is in action against Francisco “Massaranduba†Trinaldo (13-2-0). Hallman will be making his UFC debut in this fight, plus he will make his promotional debut on a nine fight winning streak. Trinaldo has won three of four fights under the UFC banner, last defeating Mike Rio by submission at UFC On FX VIII. This is a must win fight for Trinaldo if he is to move up the ranks in the UFC and he will get the win to move up to bigger fights in the promotion.
More flyweight division action is up next as Joseph Benavidez (18-3-0) dukes it out with Jussier Formiga (15-2-0). Benavidez will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, with those victories coming over Ian McCall and Darren Uyenoyama. Formiga has split both of his past UFC fights, defeating Chris Cariaso and suffering a defeat to John Dodson. The winner of this fight could be in line for a flyweight title bout and it will be Benavidez getting a second chance at the gold.
Up next is a middleweight division fight as Yushin “Thunder†Okami (29-7-0) takes on Ronaldo “Jacare†Souza (18-3-0-1NC). Okami will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with a notable win over Alan Belcher at UFC 155. Souza is currently undefeated in UFC competition and he has previously held the Strikeforce Middleweight Title. This is a must win fight of either fighter wants a title shot in the near future and it will be Souza capturing the win.
Headlining this card is a light heavyweight division fight as Ryan “Darth†Bader (15-3-0) faces Glover Teixeira (21-2-0). Bader has won three of his last four in UFC competition, with that lone loss coming to Yushin Okami at UFC On Fox IV. Teixeira is currently undefeated in UFC competition, which includes a win over Quinton Jackson at UFC On Fox VI. The winner of this bout has an opportunity to get a title shot next against light heavyweight champion and it will be Teixeira getting that shot.
