ONE FC X SHERDOG.COM PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/12/2013 2:02 PM

In what can be considered one of the biggest weekends in all of MMA, with five events in total, kicks off Friday morning with One FC X from Indonesia. The event will be a historical one for the promotion, which will be crowning their inaugural flyweight champion. The preliminary card is worth checking out as well, with a UFC veteran competing in his promotional debut.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division fight as Almiro Barros (0-0-0) takes on Kian “Karnage” Pham (6-7-0). Barros will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he does have experience competing as an amateur. Pham is returning to action after a one year-plus layoff from competition and he has only won two of his last six fights. Pham is not the most spectacular MMA fighter, but he does have a huge experience edge and that will carry him to victory.

Up next is a featherweight division encounter as Max Metino (0-0-0) is going to be in action against Long Sophy (0-0-0). Metino will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he does have some experience competing as an amateur. Sophy will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and he will be bringing along amateur experience as well. It is always a pick ‘em when two fighters who are making their debuts are matched up, but I’ll go with Metino in this one.

Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division bout as Caros “The Future” Fodor (7-3-0) faces Seung Ho “Tommy” Yang (6-0-0). Fodor is competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Sam Stout at UFC 157. Yang is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, with a pair of fights coming in the Pancrase promotion. Fodor is in a big need of a victory right now and it will be an upset in this one as Yang picks up the victory.
