WORLD SERIES OF FIGHTING V PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/13/2013 3:26 PM

In a week filled with five total MMA events, the end of the marathon MMA sessions belongs to the World Series Of Fighting. The promotion will be putting on a top notch card, being headlined by former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski faces Mike Kyle. The preliminary card is one to check out as well, with a pair of Gracie family members looking to notch some victories.

Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division fight as Darren Costa (0-1-0) competes against Neiman Gracie (0-0-0). Costa made his professional MMA debut earlier this year at Cage Fury Fighting Championships 24, suffering a loss to Jose Pinto. Gracie will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he is a member of the famous Gracie family. There is no way that the WSOF will give Gracie something he cannot handle in his pro debut and he will steamroll Costa in this one.

We move to the bantamweight division bout next as Sidemar “Sideco” Honorio (8-3-0) does battle against Jimmie “El Terror” Rivera (12-1-0). Honorio will be making his WSOF debut in this fight and this will be his first fight in well over a full year. Rivera is also making his WSOF debut in this fight and he is coming off of a successful two fight run in Bellator. Rivera could become a huge star under the WSOF banner and he will show why as he defeats Honorio in his promotional debut.

Welterweights will be stepping into the cage next as Gregor Gracie (7-3-0) takes on Richard Patishnock (5-1-0). Gracie is currently winless in WSOF competition, having suffered a defeat to Tyson Steele at the WSOF I. Patishnock is currently undefeated in WSOF competition, having defeated Igor Gracie at the WSOF II. Another victory over a Gracie family member can give Patishnock quite the career boost and he will earn another victory over a Gracie.

Up next is a welterweight division encounter as Ozzy Dugulubgov (4-1-0) battles Andrew “Ozzy” Osborne (7-5-0). Dugulubgov is currently undefeated in WSOF competition, with a victory coming over Chris Wade at WSOF II. Osborne has won four of his last six bouts, with that lone loss (other was a draw) coming to UFC veteran Ryan LaFlare. Dugulubgov looked very good in his WSOF debut and he will look good once again as he defeats Osborne in this one.

Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division fight as Rick “The Gladiator” Glenn (13-2-1) faces Artur Rofi (6-0-0). Glenn will enter the fight riding a ten fight winning streak and he has not suffered a defeat in over three years. Rofi will be making his promotional debut in this fight and he is a longtime veteran of the Cage Fury Fighting Championships promotion. These are two fighters who are on good streaks right now, but it will be Glenn ending the undefeated streak of Rofi.
