This coming Friday Night will be a historical one for the Bellator Fighting Championships as the promotion will hold its 100th event. Bellator officials are rewarding the fans who tune in on this big night with a great card on Spike TV, with nothing but welterweight action on the card. The preliminary card is stacked as well, with a pair of UFC veterans in action and a good bantamweight division encounter.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Efrain Escudero (19-7-0) competes against Zack Surdyka (6-1-0). Escudero is a UFC veteran who has only won one of his last five fights, with that lone win coming over Marcus Edwards at a Sparta Combat League event. Surdyka will be making his Bellator debut in this fight and he is a veteran of the Rage In The Cage promotion. This fight is primed for an upset and it will come to fruition as Surdyka defeats the UFC veteran in this one.
A pair of middleweights are competing next as Clifford Starks (8-2-0) looks for the win against Joe “Yagerbombz†Yager (5-2-0). Starks will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Yoel Romero at UFC On Fox VII. Yager is currently winless in Bellator competition, having dropped a fight to Brandon Halsey at Bellator 96. Starks was a much hyped prospect prior to his poor run in the UFC, but will rebound to defeat Yager in his Bellator debut.
Welterweights will be stepping into the cage next as Johnny “Buck Nasty†Buck (12-8-0) does battle against Adam McDonough (8-0-0). Buck is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Chris Mierzwiak by unanimous decision at Bellator 89. McDonough is currently undefeated in MMA competition, but he is returning to the cage after a two year layoff. Cage rust is going to play a huge factor in the fight for McDonough, who will see his undefeated streak end at the hands of Buck.
We move to the heavyweight division for the next bout as Dan Charles (7-0-0) is in action against Siala-Mou “Might Mo†Siliga (3-2-0). Charles is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, spending the majority of his career in the Rage In The Cage promotion. Siliga is returning to action after a three year layoff, but has previously fought UFC veterans Semmy Schilt and Josh Barnett. This bout is more about the spectacle than the actual fight, but it will be Charles remaining undefeated in the end.
The light heavyweight division will be featured next as Liam McGeary (4-0-0) battles Beau Tribolet (7-2-0). McGeary is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Anton Talamantes at Bellator 95. Tribolet is returning to action after a year layoff, last losing to Tim Carpenter by submission at Bellator 71. This fight is easily the biggest test in the career of McGeary, but it will be a test that the fighter passes.
Up next is a lightweight division fight as Larue Burley (2-0-0) takes on Bubba “The Highlight Kid†Jenkins (4-0-0). Burley is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and has competed in the King Of The Cage promotion. Jenkins is currently undefeated in Bellator competition, having defeated Mike Barreras at Bellator 97. Jenkins is a much hyped prospect under the Bellator banner and he will show why as he ends the undefeated streak of Larue.
Headlining this portion of the card is a bantamweight division fight as Brandon Bender (11-0-0) faces Travis “T-Train†Marx (20-4-0-1NC). Bender is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and has only had one career fight go to a decision. Marx has won two of three fights under the Bellator banner, most notably defeating Chase Beebe at Bellator 90. It is a shame that this fight is not a bigger part of this card, but it will be Marx taking home the victory.
