UFC 165 FACEBOOK PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 9/18/2013 9:48 PM

On the heels of the historic Bellator 100 card, the Ultimate Fighting Championships will return to pay-per-view with a pair of title bouts. The two title bouts will feature Jon Jones defending the light heavyweight title and Renan Barao defending the interim bantamweight title. There is a stacked four fight preliminary card airing on Facebook, with a key fight in the lightweight division.

Kicking off the action is a heavyweight division fight as Nandor “The Hun” Guelmino (11-4-1) competes against Daniel Omielanczuk (15-3-1-1NC). Guelmino will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he did compete once in Strikeforce against Josh Barnett. Omielanczuk will also be making his UFC debut in this fight, but does so on the strength of an eleven fight winning streak. These are two impressive heavyweights who are making their promotional debuts, but it will be Omielanczuk making a successful UFC debut.

A pair of bantamweights will battle next as Alex “Bruce Leeroy” Caceres (8-5-0-1NC) faces “Stunning” Roland Delorme (9-1-0-1NC). Caceres has won three of his last five under the UFC banner, but his last bout was a no contest against Kyung Ho Kang. Delorme is currently undefeated in UFC competition, most notably defeating Edwin Figueroa at UFC 161. A victory in this fight could put Delorme near a title shot and it will be a victory that the fighter will be getting.

Up next is a welterweight division fight as Michel “Tractor” Prazeres (16-1-0) battles Jesse “The Body Snatcher” Ronson (13-2-0). Prazeres is currently winless in UFC competition, having dropped a fight to Paulo Thiago at UFC On FX VIII. Ronson will be making his UFC debut in this fight and has previously competed against UFC veteran Mike Ricci. These are two fighters who are looking for their first win in the UFC and it will be Ronson getting that victory.

Headlining this portion of the card is a lightweight division fight as Renee Forte (8-2-0) takes on John “The Bull” Makdessi (11-2-0). Forte has split both of his past UFC fights, defeating Terry Etim and suffering a defeat to Sergio Moraes. Makdessi will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, last defeating Darn Cruickshank at UFC 158. Makdessi has the potential to be a big star in the lightweight division and he will show why by defeating Forte in this one.
