Another week of big time MMA action will conclude on Saturday with yet another big offering of Cage Warriors action. Despite having just three fights air on the Facebook portion of the preliminary card, two of those fights are important ones to keep an eye on. That is due to the fact that two of the three fights are part of the one night tournament to crown a new lightweight champion.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight title tournament semi-final fight as Ivan “Buki†Buchinger (23-4-0) battles Mick “The English Bull Terrier†Sinclair (12-3-0). Buchinger will enter the tournament riding a two fight winning streak, which includes a win over tournament participant Jason Ball. Sinclair is returning to the promotion after a three year absence, he has gone 2-1-0 since his last appearance. Buchinger is a heavy favorite to take the whole tournament and he will show why as he advances to the finals over Sinclair.
Up next is a lightweight title tournament semi-final fight as Jason “Daddy Cool†Ball (20-12-0) faces Steven “Braveheart†Ray (12-4-0). Ball has only won two of his last six, with some of those losses coming to UFC veterans Andre Winner and Colin Fletcher. Ray is returning to Cage Warriors after being away for over a year, but he has competed against UFC veteran Curt Warburton in between appearances. This should be the most action packed fight of the semi-final round, but it will be Ball punching his ticket to the finals.
Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division fight as Athinodoros “Theo†Michailidis (4-0-0) takes on Nad Narimani (5-1-0). Michailidis will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight, but he has competed in the Ultimate Challenge MMA promotion. Narimani is currently winless in Cage Warriors competition, suffering a defeat to Graham Turner at Cage Warriors 56. These are two top featherweight prospects to keep an eye on, but it will be Michailidis remaining undefeated in the end.
