After a short break, the Ultimate Fighting Championships returns to action on Wednesday Night with a huge welterweight battle on top. Also, for what seems like the first time in a very long time, there will be no fights streaming live on Facebook. The four fight preliminary card is one worth checking out, with a key fight taking place in the flyweight division.
Kicking off the action is a lightweight division fight as Alan “Nuguette†Patrick (10-0-0) competes against Garett Whiteley (7-0-0). Patrick will be making his UFC debut in this fight, but he has experience in the Jungle Fight and Bitetti Combat promotions. Whiteley will also be making his UFC debut in this fight and he has yet to have any fights go to the judge’s scorecard. This is a huge opportunity for both fighters in their UFC debuts, but it will be Patrick making a successful UFC debut.
A flyweight division bout is up next as Chris “Kamikaze†Cariaso (14-5-0) battles Iliarde Santos (27-8-1-1NC). Cariaso will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, with those losses coming to Jussier Formiga and John Moraga. Santos is currently winless in UFC competition, with his losses coming to Yuri Alcantara and Ian McCall respectively. This is a must win fight if either fighter is to remain in the UFC and it will be Cariaso keeping his spot safe.
Up next is a welterweight division fight as Yan Cabral (10-0-0) will be taking on David “Daudi†Mitchell (12-3-0). Cabral is coming off of the biggest win of his professional MMA career as he defeated Kazushi Sakuraba at DREAM 17. Mitchell has only won one of four in his UFC tenure, with that lone win coming over Simeon Thoresen at UFC On Fox VI. Cabral has a lot of momentum heading into his UFC debut and he will ride that momentum to remain undefeated.
Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division fight as Igor Araujo (23-6-0-1NC) faces Ildemar “Arajo†Alcantara (19-5-0). Araujo will be making his UFC debut in this fight and will be doing so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Alcantara is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Wagner Prado and Leandro Silva. Alcantara has looked unstoppable thus far since debuting in the UFC and he will look good again as he wins his third straight in the promotion.
