In a week that includes an event from the UFC, the Bellator Fighting Championships are returning with another stacked card. While the main card will be headlined by the return of lightweight David Rickels and the featherweight tournament semi-finals, there is a stacked preliminary card as well. This six fight preliminary card will feature a top Brazilian competitor and some other top MMA prospects.
Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division bout as Wayman Carter (2-1-0) competes against Carlos “Cachorrao†Eduardo (10-2-0). Carter will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and one of those wins came in the Titan Fighting Championships. Eduardo enters the fight riding an eight fight winning streak and has previously fought UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones. Barring a pretty big upset from taking place, Eduardo should easily roll through Carter in their Bellator debuts.
A pair of middleweights will battle next as Remy Bussieres (2-0-0) will be in action against Blake Pool (0-0-0). Bussieres is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, but will be competing for the first time for over a year. Pool will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight, but he has competed previously as an amateur. Bussieres has the experience advantage, but his time away from the cage will hurt him as Pool makes a successful MMA debut.
More middleweight action is up next as Maurice “The Hulk†Jackson (2-1-0) does battle against Matt Uhde (3-3-0). Jackson has rotated wins and losses throughout his MMA career, with his last fight being a win over Carlos Ortega at a Submission Championships MMA event. Uhde will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in almost two years. This is a must win fight for both competitors, but it will be Jackson handing Uhde his fourth straight defeat.
Lightweight division action is up next as Donnie “Da Bomber†Bell (7-2-0) takes on Marcio Navarro (9-8-0). Bell will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak and has fought WSOF veteran Justin Gaethje early in his career. Navarro has won two of his last three bouts, which would include a win over Strikeforce veteran Rudy Bears. Navarro has been going through a career resurgence as of late, but that resurgence will end as Bell picks up the victory.
Up next is a flyweight division contest as Jeimeson Saudino (6-1-0) faces Jesse “The Army Assassin†Thornton (4-7-0). Saudino will enter the fight riding a five fight winning streak, which includes a win in the Titan Fighting Championships. Thornton has only won one of his last three, plus he has fought UFC veterans Jens Pulver and Erik Perez. Unless a major upset takes place in this fight, Saudino will easily hand Thornton another loss in this fight.
Headlining this portion of the card is a featherweight division fight as Cody Carrillo (4-6-0) battles Ricky “The Spazmanian Devil†Musgrave (9-4-0). Carrillo has only won one of his last four bouts, which includes a loss to UFC veteran Tyler Toner. Musgrave has also only won one of his last four fights and has previously fought against UFC veteran Tim Means. How Bellator keeps putting fighters with subpar records on their cards is beyond me, but it will be Musgrave pulling out the victory either way.
