ONE FC 11 IPPV PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/14/2013 7:23 PM

One FC is easily becoming a force to reckon with in the MMA universe and this Friday’s card is no exception to that. The event will be headlined by a title unification bout between Soo Chul Kim and Bibiano Fernandes. Also, Shinya Aoki will be making his featherweight debut and a pair of female competitors are looking for a big win.

Kicking off the action is a flyweight division bout as Rene “D’ Challenger” Catalan (0-1-0) competes against Khim Dima (0-0-0). Catalana made his professional MMA debut earlier this year, dropping a fight to Alex Silva via submission at One FC VIII. Dima will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and has little amateur experience to speak of. Neither fighter really holds an edge over the other in this fight, but it will be Lima making a successful pro debut.

A pair of featherweight are competing next as Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson (4-1-0-1NC) does battle with Shannon “One Shin” Wiratchai (2-1-0-1NC). Chilson is returning to action after a year away from the cage, last competing at One FC VI in a losing effort to Ngabdi Mulyadi. Wiratchai is currently winless in One FC competition, last losing to Bashir Ahmad by decision at One FC VIII. These two fought to a no contest when they first met at One FC V, but it will be Chilson leaving with the victory this time around.

We move to the middleweight division for the next fight as Tatsuya Mizuno (11-9-0) is in action against Rafael “The Machine” Silva (39-13-0). Mizuno will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, which includes a loss to UFC veteran Renato Sobral. Silva will enter the fight on the strength of a seven fight winning streak and last defeated Cage Warriors veteran Pavel Kusch. Silva has a monstrous experience advantage on his side and that will carry him to his eight straight victory.

Bantamweight division action is up next as Stephen Langdown (0-0-0) looks for the win against Mark Marcellinus (0-0-0). Langdown will be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and has very little amateur experience to speak of. Marcellinus will also be making his professional MMA debut in this fight and has no amateur record that is known about. This is as much as a pick ‘em as there is going to be on this card, but I will go will Langdown to notch the win.

The welterweights will be featured next as Juan Wen Lie (2-0-0) will be duking it out with Alex Lim (1-2-0). Lie is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and has yet to have any fights go past the opening round. Lim has rotated wins and losses throughout his MMA career and is coming off of a two fight run in the Balls Of Steel promotion. Lie has been absolutely dominant thus far in his short MMA career and his run will continue as he wins his third straight.

Women’s bantamweight action is up next as Sherilyn Lim (0-0-0) will stand across the cage from Ann “Athena” Osman (0-0-0). Lim will be making her professional MMA debut, with no amateur experience on record as of this writing. Osman will also be making her professional MMA debut, but she does have experience competing as an amateur. One FC officials believe that Lim can become the female star of the promotion and she will get off to a good start with a win at the event.

Some lightweight division action is up next as Peter Davis (6-2-0) takes on Eddie “The Magician” Ng (6-1-0). Davis is currently undefeated in One FC competition, last defeating Leo Krishna by first round TKO at One FC VII. Ng is also undefeated in One FC competition, with none of his promotional fights going past the second round. The winner of this fight could be in line for a lightweight title bout and it will be Ng getting the potential title bout.

Up next is a featherweight division fight as Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki (33-6-0-1NC) battles Cody “The Machine” Stevens (11-5-1). Aoki is the current One FC Lightweight Champion and he will be making his featherweight debut in this fight. Stevens will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, which includes a victory over UFC veteran Dustin Neace. Aoki is looking to become a two division champion and he will be on the right path after a successful featherweight debut.

Headlining this card is a bantamweight title unification bout as One FC Bantamweight Champion Soo Chul Kim (7-4-0) faces One FC Interim Bantamweight Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes (14-3-0). Kim will be making the first defense of his championship, which he won by defeating Leandro Issa at One FC VI. Fernandes was almost signed by the UFC a few years back and won the interim belt by defeating Koetsu Okazaki at One FC IX. This is the most one sided title unification bout in a long time, as it will be Fernandes easily defeating Kim to unify the belts.
