While Saturday Night is all about the UFC, Friday Night will be about a pair of title bouts from the Xtreme Fighting Championships promotion. The event will be headlined by XFC Lightweight Champion Scott Holtzman and a bout to determine the first women’s flyweight champion. Also, there is a women’s strawweight division and some undefeated fighters competing on the big event.
Kicking off the action is a featherweight division encounter as Luke Sanders (4-0-0) competes against Zach “Thunderwood†Underwood (11-4-0). Sanders is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, with none of his fights going past the first round. Underwood will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, which includes a win over Chris Coggins at Bellator 73. Sanders is a top prospect in the MMA world, but he is taking on too big of a challenge in this one with Underwood taking the win.
Women’s strawweight action is up next as Hannah “Shockwave†Cifers (0-0-0) does battle against “Hurricane†Heather Clark (5-4-0). Cifers will be making her professional MMA debut in this fight, but she did go undefeated as an amateur. Clark has only won one of her last four bouts, with losses coming to such notables as Felice Herrig and Marianna Kheyfets. Cifers is way overmatched in this one, Clark should easily steamroll her in order to get back into the win column.
A pair of welterweights are battling next as “Dangerous†Justin Davis (13-11-0) is in action against Luis “Sapo†Santos (57-9-1). Davis has only won one of his last five fights, with two of those losses coming to UFC veterans Dennis Hallman and Bristol Marunde. Santos will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, with only one of those fights lasting over a minute. Santos is a fighter who should be in a bigger promotion right now and he will destroy the overmatched Davis in this one.
More featherweight division action is up next as Jason “The Ronin†Hicks (5-1-0) takes on Deivison “Deivison Dragon†Ribeiro (23-9-0-1NC). Hicks will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Scott Holtzman at XFC 22. Ribeiro has only won one of his last three bouts, with that lone win coming over Shah Bobonis at XFC 24. Ribeiro has a massive experience advantage in this fight and he will use that experience to defeat Hicks in this one.
Up next is an XFC Women’s Flyweight Title decision fight as Cortney “Cast Iron†Casey (1-0-0) battles Pearl Gonzalez (1-1-0). Casey is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, having defeated Kelly Warren at XFC 24. Gonzalez will be looking to build on the momentum of her first professional MMA victory, having defeated Suzie Montero at XFC 22. How this fight is supposed to be for a new championship is beyond me, but it will be Casey winning the gold.
Headlining this card is an XFC Lightweight Title fight as champion Scott “Hot Sauce†Holtzman (5-0-0) defends against Roger “The Leprechaun†Carroll (11-9-0). Holtzman will be making the first defense of his belt, which he won by defeating John Mahlow at XFC 24. Carroll has only won one of his last four fights, with that lone win coming over Josh Eagans at XFC 22. Why Carroll is challenging for the belt is not making sense to most people right now, Holtzman will win and retain the championship.
