UFC 166 FACEBOOK PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/17/2013 1:11 PM

The long anticipated third fight between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos is set to cap off another big weekend of MMA action. The UFC has stacked this card to the gills, even having four big fights taking place on the Facebook portion of the preliminary card. The four fight preliminary card streaming on Facebook is set to feature a past TUF Champion and a top featherweight prospect.

Kicking off the action is a bantamweight division affair as Kyoji Horiguchi (11-1-0) competes against Dustin “The Disciple” Pague (11-8-0). Horiguchi will make his UFC debut on the strength of a five fight winning streak, which includes a win over UFC veteran Ian Loveland. Pague has only won one of five under the UFC banner, with that lone win coming over Jared Papazian at UFC On FX III. Pague has not been too impressive during his UFC tenure and Horiguchi will do the opposite to make an impressive UFC debut.

Featherweights will step into the octagon next as Andre “Touchy” Fili (12-1-0) battles Jeremy Larsen (8-4-0-1NC). Fili will make his UFC debut riding an eight fight winning streak, with a pair of those victories coming in the Tachi Palace Fights promotion. Larsen is currently winless in UFC competition, dropping fights to Joe Proctor and Lucas Martins respectively. Fili is a highly touted MMA prospect and he will live up to the hype as he hands Larsen his third straight UFC defeat.

Up next is a lightweight division bout as Tony “El Cucuy” Ferguson (13-3-0) takes on Mike “The Wolverine” Rio (9-2-0). Ferguson is a TUF 13 champion and will be looking to rebound from his first UFC loss, which came to Michael Johnson at UFC On Fox III. Rio has split both of his UFC appearances, defeating John Cofer and suffering a defeat to Francisco Trinaldo. These are two fighters who are in a bad need of a victory, but it will be Ferguson returning to the win column.

Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division fight as Adlan “Borz” Amagov (12-2-1) faces TJ Waldburger (16-7-0). Amagov is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Chris Spang at UFC On Fuel TV IX. Waldburger has won four of six fights under the UFC banner, with a notable victory over Nick Catone at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale. Amagov is taking a huge step up in fighting Waldburger, but he will fall short as Waldburger wins another one in the UFC.
