CAGE WARRIORS FIGHT NIGHT IX FACEBOOK PRELIMINARY CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/21/2013 8:13 PM

Another big week of MMA action is set to kick off this Friday with the ninth incarnation of the Cage Warriors Fight Night series. This event will be headlined by an important matchup between Bruno Carvalho and Gael Grimaud. The preliminary card, which will be streaming live on Facebook, will feature a trilogy of fights that are well worth checking out.

Kicking off the action is a lightweight division encounter as Fernando Gonzalez (5-0-0) battles Ryan Roddy (5-1-0). Gonzalez will be making his Cage Warriors debut in this fight and has yet to have a fight go past the second round. Roddy is currently winless in Cage Warriors competition, having dropped a fight to Paul Redmond at Cage Warriors 51. This fight is a great way to kick off the card and it will be Gonzalez making a successful promotional debut.

Up next is a flyweight division fight as Shaj Haque (3-0-0) will be standing across the cage from Paul Marin (5-3-0). Haque is currently undefeated in Cage Warriors competition, having defeated both Oliver Battell and Kris Edwards. Marin has only won one of his last four fights, with that lone win coming over Gil Catarino at Fight Contenders IV. Haque has been on quite the roll thus far in his young MMA career and that roll will continue as he defeats Marin.

Headlining this portion of the card is a welterweight division bout as Lee Caers (9-3-0) takes on Piotr “Iron” Ptasinski (5-3-0). Caers is currently undefeated in Cage Warriors competition, last defeating Aaron Thomas at Cage Warriors 59. Ptasinski has won two of three fights under the Cage Warriors banner, most notably defeating John Redmond at Cage Warriors 55. Caers is a big prospect right now in Cage Warriors and he will get the biggest win of his career as he defeats Ptasinski in this one.
