The always entertaining Cage Warriors promotion returns to action on Friday with another top notch card to check out. The event will be headlined by a crucial welterweight division battle between Bruno Carvalho and Gael Grimaud. Also, a UFC veteran and Bellator veteran will be in action, plus one of Cage Warriors top names will be competing.
Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division battle as Mohamed “Felx†Ali (7-5-0) competes against Prince Aounallah (6-2-0). Ali has won two of four in Cage Warriors competition, with all of his appearances coming in the “Fight Night†events. Aounallah has won four of his last five fights and has been a long time veteran of the 100% Fight promotion. Aounallah is getting a major opportunity in this fight and he will capitalize on it to pick up the biggest win thus far in his career.
Middleweights will step into the arena next as Jack “The Stone†Mason (24-12-0) does battle with Vladimir Opanasenko (11-6-0). Mason is a longtime veteran of the Cage Warriors promotion and has won three of his last four in the promotion. Opanasenko has rotated wins and losses in his last seven fights, with his last fight being a win over Aleksandr Bondarenko at a European Combat Sambo Federation event. Mason is a longtime contender in Cage Warriors and he will inch closer to another title shot as he defeats Opanasenko.
A pair of bantamweights will battle next as Ronnie “Iron Mann†Mann (22-6-1) is in action against Marat Pekov (10-3-0). Mann has been undefeated since his Bellator release which came after a loss to Rodrigo Lima at Bellator 94. Pekov will enter the fight riding a four fight winning streak and he has not lost a fight in nearly three years. This fight was a late addition to the card, but it will be Mann picking up his second win in Cage Warriors.
More middleweight action is taking place next as Faycal Hucin (9-3-0) takes on “Beautiful†Che Mills (15-6-0-2NC). Hucin has won three of four in Cage Warriors competition, last defeating Antoni Chmielewski at Cage Warriors Fight Night VIII. Mills is winless since his UFC release, which came after a no contest to Matthew Riddle at UFC On Fuel TV VII. Mills has not been too good in recent times and Hucin has been, which is why it will be Hucin pulling the upset.
Up next is a lightweight division encounter as Sergey Grechka (8-3-0) battles Jean “The Show†N’Doye (7-1-0). Grechka is currently undefeated in Cage Warriors competition, having defeated Artem Boiko at Cage Warriors 46. N’Doye has won three of four under the Cage Warriors banner and has only had one career fight go to the judge’s scorecard. This is a key fight in the division for Cage Warriors, but it will be N’Doye advancing in the rankings with another win.
Headlining this card is a welterweight division fight as Bruno “BC†Carvalho (15-6-0) faces Gael Grimaud (18-6-0). Carvalho has split both of his previous Cage Warriors appearances, defeating Steven Dinsdale and suffering a defeat to Cathal Pendred. Grimaud has won two of three in Cage Warriors competition, which includes a win over UFC veteran Jesse Taylor. The winner of this fight could be very close to a title shot and it will be Grimaud earning that possible shot.
