RESURRECTION FIGHTING ALLIANCE X MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 10/23/2013 7:33 PM

In between some big shows from the UFC and Bellator will be another stellar effort from the Resurrection Fighting Alliance. The tenth event in the promotions history will see a battle for the vacant welterweight title as Mike Rhodes faces Alan Jouban. Also, UFC veteran Justin Lawrence is in action and several other top prospects are looking for some big wins.

Kicking off the action is a light heavyweight division fight as Miles Marshall (1-1-0) competes against Jordan Sanford (1-0-0). Marshall will look to build on the momentum of his first professional MMA victory, which came over Ryan Braun at Disorderly Conduct 14. Sanford made his professional MMA debut earlier this summer, defeating Nic Renfro at Pinnacle Combat 13. These are two fighters who are still in the early stages of their careers, but it will be Sanford remaining undefeated in the end.

A pair of featherweights are in action next as Jeff Bates (2-0-0) will do battle against Cory Galloway (2-1-0). Bates has spent his entire MMA career in the Iowa Challenge promotion and has yet to have a fight go past the second round. Galloway is currently undefeated in RFA competition, having defeated Jerry Shapiro by second round TKO at RFA IV. Bates looked very dominant in his first two fights as a pro and that dominance will continue when he defeats Galloway.

Welterweight division action is taking place next as Michael McBride (4-0-0) is in action against Emmanuel Sanchez (4-1-0). McBride has spent his entire pro MMA career in the Midwest Fighting Championships and has only had one fight go past the opening round. Sanchez will be looking to rebound from his first professional MMA defeat, which came to Lewis Gonzalez at World Fighting Championships V. McBride has built a reputation for finishing opponents thus far in his career and that reputation grows as he finishes Sanchez in this one.

We move to the lightweight division for the next bout as EJ “The Pretty Boy” Brooks (7-1-0) battles John Case (12-4-0). Brooks is coming off of a five fight run in the Bellator Fighting Championships, he achieved four wins in that run. Case will enter the fight riding a six fight winning streak and he has previously fought UFC veteran Marcus Levesseur. This fight should be getting a lot more attention than it has up until this point, but it will be Brooks pulling out the victory.

Up next is a featherweight division affair as Justin “The American Kid” Lawrence (4-2-0) faces Luis Saldana (7-1-0). Lawrence will be competing for the first time since his UFC release, which came after a loss to Daniel Pineda at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale. Saldana will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak and has spent his whole career in the Midwest Fighting Championships. Lawrence was given a tough task in his first post-UFC bout and it will be Saldana pulling the upset by beating the bigger name.

Headlining this card is a bout for the vacant RFA Welterweight Title as Alan Jouban (7-1-0) takes on Mike “Biggie” Rhodes (5-1-0). Jouban is currently undefeated in RFA competition, having defeated UFC veteran Chris Spang at RFA IX. Rhodes has split both of his RFA fights, defeating Benjamin Smith and losing to UFC veteran Brandon Thatch. These fighters are both worthy of holding the championship, but it will be Jouban wearing the gold in the end.
