With the 2013 MMA calendar coming to a close, it is nice to know that the UFC’s final event in the UK is a loaded card worth checking out. The main event will see the middleweight debut of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida, as he will battle Mark Munoz. Also, there will be a clash of top lightweight division strikers and a top flyweight prospect looks for another win.
Kicking off the action is a flyweight division fight as Phil “Billy†Harris (22-10-0-1NC) competes against John “Hands Of Stone†Lineker (22-6-0). Harris is looking to build off the momentum of his first UFC win, which came over Ulysses Gomez at UFC On Fuel TV VII. Lineker will enter the fight riding a three fight winning streak, last defeating Jose Maria Tome at UFC 163. Lineker has been bullying his way through the division as of late and his domination will continue as he defeats Harris.
A pair of middleweights are battling next as Nicholas “Nico†Musoke (10-2-1-1NC) does battle against Alessio “Legionarius†Sakara (15-10-0-1NC). Musoke will be making his UFC debut in this fight and he will be doing so on the strength of a five fight winning streak. Sakara will enter the fight riding a three fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in well over three years. This fight is nothing short of an embarrassment for being on the main card of the event, but it will be Musoke pulling the upset.
Lightweight division action is up next as “Stormin†Norman Parke (18-2-0) is in action against Jon “Super Saiyan†Tuck (7-0-0). Parke was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes and he has also defeated Kazuki Tokudome at UFC 162. Tuck is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and has only had one career fight go past the first round. This fight has the potential to be the show stealer for the whole event, but it will be Tuck staying undefeated in the end.
We move to the light heavyweight division for the next fight as Ryan “Big Deal†Jimmo (18-2-0) battles Jimi “Poster Boy†Manuwa (13-0-0). Jimmo has won two of three under the UFC banner, most notably defeating Anthony Perosh at UFC 149. Manuwa is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter, with two wins coming in UFC competition. This fight should be nothing short of a slug fest, but it will be Manuwa keeping himself undefeated when it’s all over.
Up next is a lightweight division fight as Melvin “The Young Assassin†Guillard (31-12-2-1NC) takes on Ross “The Real Deal†Pearson (15-6-0). Guillard has only won two of his last six in UFC competition, but he is coming off of a win over Mac Danzig at UFC On Fox VIII. Pearson has been undefeated since his return to the lightweight division, most notably defeating George Sotiropoulos at UFC On FX VI. This is another fight that should be nothing short of a slugfest and it will be Pearson keeping his streak alive.
Headlining this card is a middleweight division fight as Lyoto “The Dragon†Machida (19-4-0) faces “The Filipino Wrecking Machine†Mark Munoz (13-3-0). Machida will be making his debut as a middleweight in the UFC and he is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Munoz has won five of his last six under the UFC banner, with a notable win over Damian Maia at UFC 131. This is an exceptional main event for this UK-based event, but it will be Machida making a successful middleweight debut.
