In a week that started off with a bang at UFC Fights For The Troops III, it will come to a conclusion with a bang at UFC Fight Night 32. The event is going to be headlined by a pivotal light heavyweight bout when Vitor Belfort battles Dan Henderson. Also, a former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion returns and Jeremy Stephens is back in the octagon.
Kicking off the action is a featherweight division bout as Rony Jason (13-3-0) competes against Jeremy “Lil Heathen†Stephens (21-9-0). Jason is currently undefeated in UFC competition and was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter: Brazil I. Stephens is currently undefeated as a featherweight in the UFC, having defeated Estevan Payan at UFC 160. Jason has been absolutely dominant since leaving the reality show and he will get the biggest victory of his career when he defeats Stephens.
A pair of welterweights are battling next as Ryan LaFlare (8-0-0) is in action against Santiago “El Rasta†Ponzinibbio (18-1-0). LaFlare is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Ben Alloway at UFC On Fuel TV IX. Ponzinibbio will be making his UFC debut in this fight and will be doing so on the strength of a seven fight winning streak. Ponzinibbio is a relative unknown to most UFC fans, but he will become known very quickly when he hands LaFlare his first career defeat.
More welterweight action is taking place next as Brandon “Rukus†Thatch (10-1-0) does battle with Paulo Thiago (15-5-0). Thatch is currently undefeated in UFC competition, having defeated Justin Edwards at UFC Fight Night 27. Thiago has only won two of his last six under the UFC banner, with his last fight being a victory over Michel Prazeres at UFC On FX VIII. Thatch has been on a roll prior to and since joining the UFC, that roll will continue as he hands Thiago another loss.
Light heavyweights are stepping into the cage next as Rafael “Feijao†Cavalcante (11-4-0-1NC) battles Igor “The Duke†Pokrajac (25-10-0-1NC). Cavalcante is currently winless in UFC competition, but he is a former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion. Pokrajac will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in well over a year. Cavalcante did not look good in his UFC debut, but he will return to his old form when he defeats Pokrajac in this one.
Up next is a middleweight division fight as Cezar “Mutante†Ferreira (6-2-0) takes on Daniel Sarafian (8-3-0). Ferreira is currently undefeated in UFC competition and he was the winner of the UFC Ultimate Fighter: Brazil I. Sarafian has split both of his UFC fights, defeating Eddie Mendez and suffering a defeat to CB Dollaway. This was the original final of the UFC Ultimate Fighter: Brazil I prior to Sarafian getting injured, but it will be Ferreira putting to rest who was the better fighter when he gets the win.
Headlining this card is a light heavyweight division bout as Vitor “The Phenom†Belfort (23-10-0) faces Dan “Hendo†Henderson (29-10-0). Belfort will enter the fight riding a two fight winning streak, last defeating Luke Rockhold at UFC On FX VIII. Henderson will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak and he won the initial meeting between the two. Henderson has slowed down dramatically since their first encounter and that will show as Belfort dominates him for the victory.
