ONE FC 12 IPPV CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 11/11/2013 8:46 PM

With an MMA weekend that will conclude with the UFC’s 20th Anniversary event, it will be the One FC promotion that starts off the weekend with a bang. The event had a last minute change after an injury to Adam Kayoom, but Nobutatsu Suzuki versus Vitor Pinto is still a worthy headliner. Also, the Malaysian Featherweight Tournament Final will take place along with other key bouts under the One FC banner.

Kicking off the action is a featherweight division affair as Steven Durr (1-1-0) competes against Samir Mrabet (2-0-0). Durr will be looking to build on the momentum of his first professional MMA victory, which came over Michael Manley at Xtreme Fighting Championships 12. Mrabet will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has yet to have any of his fights go past the opening round. These are two young prospects who are easily competing in the biggest fight of their young careers, but it will be Mrabet remaining undefeated in the end.

The Malaysian Featherweight Tournament Finals are up next as AJ “Pyro” Lias Mansor (1-3-0) is in action against Melvin “Overkill” Yeoh (7-1-0). Mansor is a tournament alternate for Jian Kai Chee, who was forced to pull from the fight after an injury. Yeoh earned his spot in the final round of the tournament after defeating Raymond Tiew by submission at One FC VII. This is a humungous mismatch and it will be Yeoh easily defeating Mansor to win the inaugural tournament.

Flyweights will step into the cage next as Saiful “The Vampire” Merican (1-1-0) does battle with Tok Sophon (2-0-0). Merican is currently winless in One FC competition, having dropped a fight to Gianni Subba at One FC VII. Sophon will be making his One FC debut in this bout after spending his entire career thus far in CTN Promotions. Sophon looked dominant in his first two career fights and that streak will continue as he dominates his third fight.

More flyweight action is up next as Gianni Subba (2-0-0) will stand across the cage from Yun Ting Chen (1-0-0). Subba has spent his entire career in the One FC promotion, having defeated both Bruce Loh and Saiful Merican. Chen has also spent his entire career in the One FC promotion, with his lone victory coming over Ronald Low. This is a big fight in the One FC Flyweight Division, considering both fighters history in the promotion and it will be Subba winning his third in One FC.

We move to the lightweight division for the next bout as Peter Davis (6-3-0) will be duking it out against Alaa “The Flash” Mazloum (1-0-0). Davis will enter the fight riding a two fight losing streak, but this fight will be his fourth fight thus far in 2013. Mazloum is returning to action after a two year break from MMA, with his last fight being a 2011 victory over Hassam Nasser. This is another mismatch on the iPPV card for One FC, Davis will easily defeat the overmatched Mazloum.

A pair of heavyweights will clash next as Tony Johnson (7-1-0) has signed on to fight Chris “Igor” Lokteff (11-1-0). Johnson is currently undefeated in One FC competition, having defeated former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia at One FC IX. Lokteff will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has only had three career fights go past the first round. This is a heavyweight division battle that should be getting more attention than it does, but it will be Johnson staying undefeated in One FC.

Our lone middleweight division fight is up next as Leandro Ataides (5-0-0) is taking on Bryan Rafiq (8-2-0). Ataides will be making his One FC debut in this fight after having spent the majority of his career in the Shooto promotion. Rafiq will be making his One FC debut riding a three fight winning streak, but this will be his first fight in over three years. These are two fighters who are both coming off of layoffs that were longer than a year, but it will be Ataides keeping his undefeated streak alive.

Up next is a flyweight division fight as Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes (9-0-0) battles Yusup “Maestro” Saadulaev (10-3-1). Moraes will be making his One FC debut in this fight and this will mark his fifth fight already in the year 2013. Saadulaev has won one of three thus far under the One FC banner, with that lone win coming over Ryan Diaz at One FC IX. This is a huge fight in the promotions flyweight division and it will be Moraes making a successful One FC debut.

Headlining this card is a welterweight division fight as Vitor Pinto (7-0-0) faces Nobutatsu Suzuki (10-1-2). Pinto will be making his One FC debut in this fight and he has spent some time in the Cage Fighters promotion. Suzuki is coming off of the biggest victory of his career as he defeated UFC veteran Phil Baroni at One FC IX. Suzuki was initially put into a welterweight title fight for a reason before it got cancelled, but he will still walk away with a victory.
