LEGACY FIGHTING CHAMPIONSHIPS 25 MAIN CARD PREVIEW

By David Tees on 11/13/2013 4:35 PM

Titles are not only being defended on Bellator and UFC events, but a championship will be defended at Legacy Fighting Championships 25. That is because the Legacy Fighting Championships Lightweight Title will be defended as Jorge Patino defends against Carlos Diego Ferreira. Also, top MMA prospects like Larry Crowe, Artenus Young and Henry Cejudo will be stepping into the cage.

Kicking off the action is a welterweight division fight as Kaileb Cummins (2-0-1) competes against Charles Ontiveros (3-1-0). Cummins has spent his entire career up until this point in the Legacy FC promotion, but is coming off of a draw against Justin Murray at Legacy FC 18. Ontiveros has also spent his entire MMA career in the Legacy FC promotion, but will be looking to rebound from a loss to Todd Moore at Legacy FC 18. These are two fighters who are competing in the biggest fight of their careers at this point and it will be Ontiveros ending his foes undefeated streak.

A pair of middleweights are battling next as Larry “Tae Kwon” Crowe (6-3-0) does battle against Jon “The Jaguar” Kirk (16-11-0). Crowe has rotated wins and losses in his last four fights, with his last fight being a loss to Bubba Bush at Legacy FC 21. Kirk will enter the fight riding a four fight losing streak and he has not won a fight in well over three years. Crowe has been up and down in recent fights, but he will rebound from recent woes to defeat the hapless Kirk.

More welterweight action is up next as Jonathan “The Hulk” Harris (7-3-0) is in action against Artenas “The Machine Gun” Young (9-6-0). Harris has won one of his last three in Legacy FC, with that lone win coming over Matt Rogers at Legacy FC 21. Young has rotated wins and losses in his last six fights, with his last fight being a loss to Eric Davilla at Legacy FC 22. This is a must win fight for both competitors in this one, but it will be Harris getting back on track with a victory.

Another welterweight division bout is next as Lester Batres (3-1-0) will take on Francisco Trevino (10-0-0). Batres is currently undefeated in Legacy FC competition, but he is returning to competition for the first time in over a year. Trevino is currently undefeated as a professional MMA fighter and he has spent his entire career in the South Texas Fighting Championships. Batres will prove to be a stiffer challenge than most people think, but Trevino will still get by to remain undefeated.

Up next is a bantamweight division encounter as Henry Cejudo (5-0-0) battles Elias “Smash” Garcia (4-0-0). Cejudo has already competed once in Legacy FC and has only had one of five career fights go to a judge’s scorecard. Garcia is looking to build off the biggest victory of his career, which came over MTV reality show star Matt Schnell at Legacy FC 20. This is a fight that should have gotten a lot more attention than it has and it will be Cejudo remaining undefeated in the end.

Headlining this card is a Legacy FC Lightweight Title fight as champion Jorge “Macaco” Patino (34-13-2-1NC) faces Carlos Diego Ferreira (8-0-0). Patino has fought outside of the promotion twice since his last title defense, with one of those fights being a victory over UFC veteran Efrain Escudero. Ferreira has come out of nowhere to become a contender in the lightweight division, especially after defeating UFC veteran Carlo Prater at Legacy FC 20. These are two fighters who are riding a lot of momentum headlining into this clash, but it will be Ferreira taking home the gold.
